That must be the first time in a long while that a contestant didn't take the gamble.

I can’t recall anyone ‘staying’

They’ve gambled and lost a few times though.

Vaguely remember it happening once in the original run, during the time when they showed you one of the prizes.

It seems last week's film effect on the ITV2 repeat wasn't a one-off or a mistake. Apparently this is the new "this isn't live!" hint. Are they hoping viewers will think something's "off" and will make more effort to watch it live?

How bizarre - and against the DPP Tech standards.

Or they just think it's "trendy" and looks "good". Seems to be the current attitude of people working in TV these days.

Well if you’re going to watch a show called ‘Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway’ on a Sunday Afternoon then I would have thought that would be a big enough hint.

When did they change having guests shout "gamble!!" to "play!!"? Was it around the same time as the phone-in scandal? Confused

It was around 2012, when there was a short investigation into whether shows like Red or Black and Deal or No Deal constituted gambling which was not permitted to be broadcast, and "gamble" consequently became a word to avoid on gameshows. Here's a Guardian story from the time.

Well though they said they were bringing back 'Home Run', they didn't really.

They only told one couple to go home and Scarlet Moffatt accompanied them anyway.

In the original Home Run they'd tell everyone to leave and were waiting at one persons house without them knowing.
