I’m sure they’ll be the only two buildings in soap land that don’t burn down for some reason.

Reminds me of a few years back in Emmerdale when Eric smashed up the shop... but the fridge full of McCain products remained mysteriously untouched.

Rebushment?

That should have said Refurbishment. Mind you a rebushment wouldn't go mist in other places.

They said on This Morning today that it will be more Co-Op bags and Costa cups rather than what we all assume that two new premises are going to be made, or they take over something existing.

Well, wondering past the Trafford Road lot last Saturday, there is a pretty sizable extension being built onto the wall of the existing building - so I'd hazard a guess that either a Co-op local or a Costa cafe will be housed in one of the new buildings currently going up.

Where is this Costa Coffe supposed to be if it's not in the vicinity of Coronation Street where pretty much everything takes place? Consdering most characters live & work on the street, or thereabouts, a lot of people will be going well out of their way for an overpriced Latte.

I presume they're building a new street which is meant to be elsewhere, a bit like the old shopping parade/petrol station in Brookside.

Thin end of the wedge if you ask me. Atrocious and blatant product placement here we come. “Shall we go to Costa and get a delicious gingerbread latte?” “Ee, no chuck, I’ll stick to me meat’n’potato pie from t’co-op”.

No thanks.

People said all that when product placement was first allowed a few years ago, and across all of British TV it’s been so subtle it’s hardly been noticed. They won’t mention it in the dialogue.

Ironically if you watch the ITV3 repeats from the 80s, you’ll see far more branded products on screen than you do nowadays with product placement permitted.
