Another new national forecaster for the BBC by the looks of it for preperation for transition to MeteoGroup. Elizabeth Rizzini is a new name on me.

London hub breakfast forecaster. Far from the first time a regional presenter has done a specialist forecast rather than one of the main presenters doing it.

Regular weekend weather presenter for BBC Look East for a few years now.

Does anyone who views and posts on this Forum live in the North East of England or in northern Cumbria?

If you watch BBC Look North you will realise that we have a new kid on the block, on the subject of weather -presenters: He is a young Welsh-man by the name of Owain Wyn Evans. What do local viewers think of him? Apparently he was doing weather presentations for the main Yorkshire version of Look North last summer. He comes across to me as very joking, trying to bring parties and an element of horse-play into the forecasts: Is he trying to make weather -forecasts appeal to the young?

In my view there is a place for horse-play and joking and it is not, in my humble opinion, something that should accompany the weather -forecasts on the main evening Regional News Bulletins.

I much prefer Paul Mooney, who has presented weather forecasts on the North East's Look North for over 15 years. Paul Mooney has a good grasp of meteorology, having worked for the Met Office for many years. His forecasts are presented seriously and are articulated clearly and he makes his subject interesting to his audience.

The day that Paul Mooney leaves Look North will be a sad day. I am certain that many local viewers in the North East and in north Cumbria will miss him. It will be very sad if we are just left with Owain Wyn Evans if (and when) Paul Mooney leaves Look North in my opinion. Mr Evans, if I may add from the sound of his voice also comes across as somewhat camp.

That's because he is gay but does it really matter how he comes across? As long as he can do the weather, he could wear a tutu and present it...

How does the gender of people someone chooses to have sex with affect how they talk?

He’s over the top funny. Probably just something to get viewers.

Owain has been doing breakfast forecasts across all three Look Norths for a couple of years, so is more established and familiar to viewers in the patch than the "new kid on the block" you describe.

He seems to split his time between being a weather presenter based in Leeds (who provide the Breakfast hub to neighbouring regions) and being a weather producer who presents a bit based at NBH, which involves providing cover for the regions when required.

His forecasts are no less informative than anybody else's.

Owain's amazing Drag forecast

Which didn’t actually appear on air, it was something Owain did as a laugh online.

Owain is really popular with Look North viewers, his forecasts on air are perfectly professional

ITV Anglia's Chris Page and ITV West Country's Kate Haskell are demonstrating a touchscreen forecast in this Tweeted video.

Is this a sign of things to come as a future change for ITV Weather?!

I'm not sure if it really adds anything to the forecast really.
