For comparison - all sizes quoted from the various websites - not sure if all sizes are total floor space, or workable space within firelanes.

BBC Elstree D 11,800sq ft
Elstree Studios Stage 1 15,700sq ft

Pinewood Studios 1&2 8,900 Sq ft each
Pinewood Studios Stage R 30,000sq ft.

The Loose Women/Lorraine studio is apparently going to be able to seat 150 audience members and they plan to use it for other productions or to hire it out when ITV Daytime shows are not being produced there. That's a pretty decent size compared to the audience seating they can squeeze in now isn't it?

Which wouldn't be that far off the old TC8 size.
Given how the wails of grief from within the industry at the demise of such a useful sized studio for comedy panel/quiz shows, ITV building a similar sized one would be quite a neat idea.

It really isn't that big, more like TC2 than TC8, not that high and i'd imagine a fairly basic lighting rig.
It's also at Basement level, so access is very compromised - and no real scenery store, art, props etc. I can see it being used by ITV for other things but with Daytime in there 40+weeks/year it's not going to change the London Studio market.

How quick of turn around can it be converted? ie 3.30? and another show at 7pm? and then converted it back for Lorriane for 08.30?

The site has been given immunity from listing. (Presumably ITV wanted to ward off the Twentieth Century Society coming in to stop their plans.)

A good decision really. Even if it weren't being demolished, listing wouldn't be a great idea. As the BBC argued when there were calls for TV Centre a listing does limit their business and operations, centres like LTC and TVC need to be modified and changed over time. A listing might have stopped them changing the windows when they added the studio on the 10th floor, or the LNN studio on the back, or adding a dish to the roof.

Also architecturally it's not special, the tower is nice the base isn't. It's got some cultural significance and history but mostly not of national importance

Dock10 Studios in Salford have very good studios and it would be a shame if some of the current London based shows would not move up north to Salford and make the most of Dock10.

Their largest studio HQ1 is just over 12,500 Sq Ft and would be perfect for those big entertainment shows. HQ2 is 7,650 Sq Ft, nearly the same size as Studio 2 at TLS, and a slightly smaller HQ4 at 6,300 Sq Ft all ready to be used.

Yes London is the capital, but there are shows which could stop being obsessed with being made in London and move up north.

Are Dock 10 struggling for bookings? I would have thought they would already be heavily used.
Write that down in your copybook now.

I didn't say they were struggling, I just meant that there are three very good sized studios which could be utilised by London shows when TLS closes this Spring. There are a lot of shows which do not need to be made in London.
