I think cola would be prohibited - unless it was diet, in which case I think it's allowed.

I've wondered if Aldi had a PP deal with Emmerdale, a few years ago there was a period where their own brand products were appearing all the time- Bob was even selling their own brand coke in the cafe!

These days it's McCain products which appear prominently all the time.

The Aldi stuff wasn't PP, Hollyoaks also uses their stuff and they did before product placement was allowed in this country. They probably use their stuff as it isn't big branded stuff so doesn't stand out on shelves, but is still real products and saves the production crew having to create their own stuff for the shop etc

Corrie had a product placement deal with Visa Contactless a while back which involved quite a few characters paying in the corner shop or bistro by contactless on occasions.

And of course there was Gail Rodwell’s Wardrobe by Kamizole.

(Might have made that last one up. Wink )

Andrew Brittain, later of Granada continuity and news, played a waiter in a 1986 episode yesterday.

Just seen a bit of today's episode on ITV3 and Vera was knocking at Ivy's door, oh my word the wall outside and the backdrop looked so fake Laughing

Really don't understand why Corrie is so bad at protecting it's spoilers when the other soaps are doing it so well. I suspect anyone reading this has seen them, but I'll spoiler it anyway:

So "Gary Dead" slapped across TV mags and spoilered over last couple of days as happening next week, though it seemed pretty clear to me this shock death wasn't a death at all - but even so just seemed ridiculous to spoiler such a shock storyline, especially after they kept the Andy storyline secret.

However now they've already spoilered that Gary isn't really dead and will "unexpectedly" return from the dead on Christmas Day having faked his death.

I have to say I'm finding Coronation Street more and more unbelievable. The Anna Windass pushing Seb off the ladder story seems so implausible.

You're not the only one to be saying this.

Shorter version.

She's either mumsy-wumsy or shrieking harridan with nothing inbetween.

I did wonder about the Gary Windass storyline when a picture appeared showing them filming a future storyline and Mikey North who plays Gary was with them. I didn’t expect a faked death but wondered why he was there.

Sure the productions standards are a lot slicker - the whole show is technically better, but I honestly think it’s so generic

Big statement alert - Coronation Street has lost its northern roots.
It could be set anywhere.

It’s almost like Hollyoaks, full of young or youthful characters with blink and you miss it storylines.
I find myself watching less and less and I’ve always loved Corrie.

You can really notice it when compared to the ITV3 episodes. It was more believable then, with proper Northern characters, modelled on Tony Warrens inspiration.
I loathe the double episodes - it’s just to much.

Slow the pace, create some ballsy northern women/older characters/more humour/more real life.

Blink and you miss it storylines? You mean like the Phelan one?

Youthful characters? Like Phelan, Eileen, Anna, the Norris, Rita, Mary storyline, the storyline regarding the factory?
