According to Wikipedia, there was a special episode where the winner/runner up of the 1987 UK series competed against those of the 1987 ANZ series. I assume this was also screened here in the UK.

And here is that episode:

You got to love that theme tune with extra beats, they don’t make theme tunes like that anymore.

Here's what the second (from 1990) stab at a US Version of Krypton looked like, this one aimed at teenagers:

Couldn't even get the K sign logo right... So this version had no chance Very Happy

It hardly needs to be said that it wasn't the same after Bob and Gordon left.

Although "Life is Full of Surprises" is a far superior theme.

Good parody of TCF in this Granada TV Rental ad.

I assume at least one customer said "Granaaa-na-na-naaa-daaa!" to their neighbours after renting the latest equipment?

I have to admit, however, that I'm now associating the music more and more with Susie Dent's Guide to Swearing. Embarassed (If you haven't watched this yet, then you absolutely have to - Susie describing the origins and histories of dirty words with the straightest of straight faces truly is something to behold. Laughing Wink)

From twenty years ago today, someone rewinding Playdays on air means possibly one of the earliest (and briefest) appearances of the balloon-era BBC One breakdown slide, followed by the CBBC One version of the same slide. Then Kirsten fills before the show is restored.

Fancy seeing one of my own uploads on this thread! Haven't thought about how this may be the first airing of the breakdown slides.. and definitely the first airing of the CBBC slide.. thanks for pointing this out!
