Aparently, the current NBC Nightly News title sequence was animated by N3 Design in Russia.

Ewww... I'm guessing they were rejected? Talk about overkill and dead space.

Indeed. The final result still has some shine to it, but it is otherwise a much simpler design. This is what ultimately made to air, starting at about :49 in:

'CBS This Morning' have updated their L3s. This is the third time that they've updated the sloped design they've maintained since launch however for me this is the first time they've changed them for the worse. The previous incarnation was classy and clean. Avenir has been ditched in favour of Proxima Nova. All three U.S. morning shows now use that font. They've also added a tacky 3D finish to the astons.

Typical CBS design...tinkering with something just for the sake of tinkering with it. It's nothing ever egregiously bad or offensive, just completely incongruous with everything else, and it's never moving toward a cohesive design direction.

Just you watch...the CBS Morning News and CBSN will get loose versions of these graphics, and then in a few months, when they name a permanent anchor of the CBS Evening News, it'll get new graphics but in a completely different style.

Pretty much this, CBS should try getting someone like Martin Lambie-Nairn in to unify everything once and then just leave it. Their quest to overanimate things and change things for changes sake is what lets them down.

Unfortunately CBS News and CBS in general isnt known for cutting edge graphics. IMO they have always been fairly pedestrian and somehow slightly off. And they basically get the job done. But I've always hated graphics tinkering. I find it highly irritating. Because the only ones that really notice its been changed are media-philes. But to the average viewer, this latest change wont even register. So whats the point. I guess thats why i find the BBC News graphics irritating after all these years. But to each his own.

Same for CBS. However all of this aside for their normally scheduled bulletins are optional.

WMAR the local ABC affiliate has not taken GMA instead airing religious services that are considered "paid programming". They have GMA at its regularly scheduled time at 8AM.

WJZ my CBS O&O took CBS This Morning from the start (which is using the network special report graphics) at 6AM replacing a similar religious program and some of their E/I shows.

The NBC affiliate WBAL decided to cut their Morning newscasts short. They typically run from 5-8AM. They joined Today at 7AM and looks like they will forebode their 9-10AM newscast at their 11-12PM public affairs block.

Edit: Thought I should add the normal air times for the Sunday AM shows:

Today And GMA go out "live" from 8-9AM. There's no Sunday edition of CBS This Morning because CBS Sunday Morning is much higher rated and goes out from 9-10:30AM.

The Sunday Political Shows are taped and go out:

Meet The Press & This Week are live from 9-10AM. CBS' Face The Nation is live from 10:30-11:30.

NBC & ABC's Sunday shows (Breakfast and Political) may be delayed for stations newscasts. Many will wedge a newscast between the breakfast and political show. With CBS's sports schedule both shows have little where to go as sports typically start at noon.

Shep on Fox News at 8am ET welcomed those on Fox News Channel and FOX stations. I guess a lot of local stations will be showing national coverage today.

Is there any reason why most presenters and reporters on all US news channels and networks wear baseball caps when covering events like this? It seems pointless to me.
