5 years is a long time in TV. Isn't that how Breakfast ended up in Salford because by the time Mediacity was built there had been so many changes they no longer met the required number of jobs being moved to the North.
This Morning in particular will need something decent that doesn't put viewers off, as it can't just be excused as a stop gap. The other programmes could be lifted to another location without viewers knowing the difference.
I bet Lambeth council won't pass that massive ITV logo signage. Of course by 2023 ITV probably won't still have that logo.
ITN headquarters has a pathetic lack of studio space. Studio 1 is ITV News, Studio 2 is 5 News, remember ITV News London does not even have its own dedicated studio, they are lumped into Studio 1. Channel 4 News has their own fantastic atrium view studio. Apart from the odd CSO cupboard stand by studio, that is it at ITN.
Pathetic how? That's clearly all they need.

So ultimately, will This Morning still have a view of water (the nod to its Liverpool heritage) come 2023?
Looks really good. Demolition won't start until Summer 2018 and completion won't be until Winter 2023.
The 'temporary' studios for the daytime shows will need to be far more than just temporary, given that they'll be there for 5 years.
It doesn't look really good at all. It's a bland, glass fronted, office block with an itv logo on it. The tried and tested "old building in a digital age" excuse is wheeled out yet again, as is "Ill suited to modern production workflow". Such cobblers, it makes me scream. Those are world class studios, loved by the crews and designers who work in them and they'll be sorely missed.
ITN have the studios they have because of cost cutting. ITV News London I am sure would like to have their own dedicated studio, which they had from 2004-2012, before being lumped in with the national news bulletins.
Such a huge building 200 Grays Inn Road, but ITN can not open another 3,000 Sq Ft studio to accommodate ITV News London or other productions. It reveals the money not being spent on news production at ITN.
If ITN had another studio, Good Morning Britain and Lorraine could easily move in, and being based at ITN would help with news output. Sadly they don't.

You'll probably find staff at ITN are more concerned about making news programmes than wanting a studio to mess around in...

Even if there was a free studio available the London news would still share a studio with the national news. It's all about saving money, running two studios unnecessarily is far more expensive than running one.
ITN are not opening other studios because they don't need any. And GMB and Lorraine couldn't "easily" move in, they need a lot more than just studio space.
