Israel's new public broadcaster launched today. 'KAN' - which means 'Here' in Hebrew - took to the air after a controversial few years of political battles and in-fighting. Eurovision fans will be aware of the uncertainty about whether or not the new channel will take part in next year's contest. Much of this was caused by fears that the channel wouldn't comply with EBU rules, which state that a broadcaster must have a fully operational news team to be a full member. (Remember the EBU is actually more of a news and sport partnership than a song contest). The news service is fully operational and part of the new schedule, so it looks like the channel will be back for Lisbon next year, although a lot can happen in 12 months in Israeli media!

Here's a clip of the first main news programme...

David Pujadas, France 2's long-serving main anchor, has been let go. Here's an article (and radio coverage) in French:

Rumours are that Anne-Sophie Lapix, who currently presents C à vous on France 5 is to replace him, this would lead to both main bulletins on France 2 being presented by women.

Personally I think Laurent Delahousse will get the gig with Julian Bugier replacing him at weekends.
