Where would you put the dramas? I think there should try again with a late night Chat show but maybe cut it to 3 days aweek? is that possible?

Ne1c has a point about the post-10pm schedules though. It's either a repeat of a documentary or a film before Jackpot247 starts. BBC One and Channel 4 are still thriving in those time slots.

BBC One aren't thriving, besides Norton and QT there is very little new content after 10:45 anymore.

9.00 ITV Nightline: News, current affairs, extended reports, sports, weather and local bulletins

10.00 Late Night Movie (Mon-Thursday)
Comedy/Chat show a'la John Oliver (Friday)

Possibly the worst scheduling idea ever. Replacing Broadchurch with an hour long Newsnight.

Nobody watches films on TV anymore, except at Christmas, or if it's Bond or Harry Potter.

It is a dumping ground for BBC3 output. Mind you Wales/Ni/Scotland do run new stuff in that slot or pushed out network stuff.

My point is you're still bound to find more "original commissions" after 10:30 on BBC One rather than repeats or something.

Same with C4 - almost always narrative repeats in the 11pm hour and they creep into the 10pm hour too.

This is why airing the Nightly Show at 10pm was stupid - they were putting it against the highest rated post-10pm show when there would be potential afterwards to capture a channel hopping audience looking for something amongst all the late night repeats.

STV now has its own late night chat show with Ewen Cameron on STV2

If anyone’s been following the Edinburgh TV Festival, ITV’s Director of Television has talked about the Nightly Show.

He concluded that it never worked at a 10pm slot - and the fact that it struggled to find its feet with the idea of revolving hosts each week.

Sums it up really. Seeing that ITV has quickly seen what went wrong with the Nightly Show (with all of the points raised in this thread), they could continue with it, but at a later timeslot and with a permanent host.

Incidentally that was also hinted at, partly by Lygo.

It bloody infuriating we in this forum were able to point out the fault with this series will before ITV, yet went ahead without listening...
