What on earth would Viacom replace the series with especial at 17.30.?

I imagine Home & Away would be bought forward half an hour, which means it wouldn't be up against the Simpsons.

would they really pay all that money per episode and put it on ITV2?

No probably not. We dont know what the asking price is. But it does have a good repeat value imo.
ITV2 will tweet the hell out of it and probably have promos all over the place.
ITV2 is the last and final place for it.

Given how ITV2 regularly rates - they could take a chance on putting it on that channel. Also neuters the fact that some daytime programming harks back to ITV repeat fare.

Not much point in replacing cheap repeats that rate well with costlier imports which won't rate much better.

Ironically, this week's episodes include scenes filmed in London, with London landmarks all over the place. I'm sure they do this to keep UK viewers watching.

There used to be subtle Easter eggs for the UK audience when it was on the BBC, like a Pudsey Bear toy in the background in an episode that would air around CiN time here.

They did that last year for the UK 30th anniversary. You had to count the Union Flags (phone covers, boxer shorts etc). The Aussies must have been perplexed!!

Only if they were actually watching it... which they aren't over there.

There's the famous one about a decade ago with Lou and Andy from Little Britain doing a comedic skit in the background of an otherwise normal scene, which must have seriously confused anyone who weren't familiar with Lucas and Walliams. Annoyingly the Youtube clip seems to have been blocked in the UK, but Dailymotion have a copy.

Michael Palin randomly showing up on Home & Away in the 90s (while he was filming a travel documentary in Australia) is one we can thankfully still enjoy.

Most people would have been familiar though, as Little Britain was big in Australia and the appearance had quite a bit of promo beforehand.

I suspect it is no coincidence this news "leaked" in advance of these episodes airing.

'It is a huge part of British culture'

Is it though in 2017? It's definitely not spoken of as watercooler nowadays.
