Hello, friends. Here's yet another Good Morning Britain mock. Hope you like it.

I have designed a new look for Good Morning Britain based on a mix between the current GMB graphics, the current CNN graphics and the Sky News HD graphics (2010-2015) to create something I hope you'll think looks appropriate.

I have provided stills and a video for you to fully see the range of graphics.

Stills:

1. This is the 'default' - just the logo, the clock, and the ticker.

http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u457/DavidWhitfield4/GMB%20MOCK%201_zpsaxyqsfkl.png

2. This is the presenter name strap, used for the newsreader, any 'editors', e.g. Richard Arnold, Martin Lewis, etc.

http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u457/DavidWhitfield4/GMB%20MOCK%202_zpspj2iebax.png

3. This graphic shows the location the correspondent is in.

http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u457/DavidWhitfield4/GMB%20MOCK%203_zpslusnw4ca.png

4. This 'breaking news' graphic would come on in the case of major breaking news happening while the show was on air to catch people's eye.

http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u457/DavidWhitfield4/GMB%20MOCK%204_zpsyoh1gdai.png

5. The standard one-line breaking news graphic.

http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u457/DavidWhitfield4/GMB%20MOCK%205_zpsrk6eqdze.png

6. The one-line breaking news graphic, but with text-squishing allowing for slightly more in-depth information to be displayed.

http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u457/DavidWhitfield4/GMB%20MOCK%206_zpsgjd9wp6b.png

7. The standard two-line general news/feature graphic.

http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u457/DavidWhitfield4/GMB%20MOCK%207_zps0d1kcsxs.png

8. The two-line general news/feature graphic with text squishing to allow for more detailed information to be given.

http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u457/DavidWhitfield4/GMB%20MOCK%208_zpsep6oirjm.png

9. The name graphic for guests and contributors.

http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u457/DavidWhitfield4/GMB%20MOCK%209_zpsjkbpscja.png

10. The coming up graphic to tell viewers when features like sport, weather, local news, and entertainment are to take place.

http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u457/DavidWhitfield4/GMB%20MOCK%2010_zpsanbypvfw.png

11. The contact us box tells viewers how to get in touch with the show and has been left on the bottom right as it is currently.

http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u457/DavidWhitfield4/GMB%20MOCK%2011_zpscbn7wxcr.png

12. A graphic in the top left can be used for crediting footage, dating the clips being shown, giving information, e.g. 'exclusive', or giving a segment-specific hashtag, e.g. #FadFreeGMB in order for viewers to get in touch regarding that part of the show.

http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u457/DavidWhitfield4/GMB%20MOCK%2012_zpshkypjijz.png

13. A little #GMB above the logo for times when they have a 'big' guest and want as many people to e.g. send in questions as possible.

Video:

In order to see how these graphics animate, I have put together a one-minute video showcasing as many as possible so that you can get a feel for how it would work on screen. (Do try to watch it in 1080p if you can.)

Please feel free to offer feedback. I hope you have enjoyed looking through this, and thanks for taking the time to do so.

For me the text is too small on the ticker and the location tag - far too small for people to see on a smaller TV and in SD.

The GMB logo - why is there a white box around it?

I see where you are getting at; it's actually quite decent. Maybe try raising the ticker font up a few points to level with the information bar.

Only thing that really irks me is the CNN-style L3s, but that's a personal thing. Zipper

I like the graphics themselves but would be interested to see if you could implement the current GMB colour scheme; the red and black aren't very GMB.

With the white box around the logo, could you have it just come in with the straps?

Great mock though, really like where it's going 👍👍

Really nice mock, I like the graphics and how they animate onto the screen. I know these graphics are inspired by the CNN graphics, but as UBox has said, seeing them in the more breakfasty GMB colour palette would be interesting.

Other than that, really clear and consistent graphics here, text stands out really well on the ticker as well. I'll be looking forward to see these develop further. Smile

A nice mock overall and really good to see what it looks like on a video.

For me though, as others have said, I might make the location tag and lower thirds bigger as well as changing the colour scheme to ones more similar to those currently used by GMB. I would also remove the white box around the logo, as it looks a bit odd.

That said, it looks very professional as it is!

Thanks for your comments. I see the fact it's very CNN inspired has been met with some opposition, as has the white box I put behind the logo, the size of some text, and the use of red, black and white instead of the more traditional morning news colours.

I have tweaked my designs over the weekend and have changed rather a lot. The lower thirds are no longer so much inspired by CNN - the little red bar to the left of the text is now gone. I have adjusted the size of the text in the suggested graphics. I have removed the box behind the logo, so now the logo would sit directly on screen until a graphic was shown, at which point the white box would extend behind the logo. The colours I chose for version one have been updated. I managed to find the colour codes for the eight colours in the real GMB palette, and have only used those eight colours in my work.

Here are a series of stills. If you wish, I can animate these in a similar way to my first version. Thought I'd give you the chance to voice your opinions first.

Thanks for taking a look at these, and do let me know what you think following my changes. I have tried to take all advice on board but do let me know if there's anything else you'd like to see adjusted.

I think these look better compared to the original version. I would like to see them animated though.

Ditto that, I did like the bar at the side of the straps though in the first version.

I know, UBox - I did too! I'm afraid that in an effort to make it less CNN-inspired, and in order to be able to use different colours for the feature tags, they had to be removed. A little red bar with a green 'SPORT' tag (for example) above it looked atrocious, as did changing the colour of the bar to match the tag when it was immediately above a red clock. I just couldn't make it work, unfortunately.

Talking of colours, if anyone's interested in the colour codes of the eight official GMB shades as listed by ITV in 2014, do feel free to send me a message.

Thanks to UBox and BBI45 for your kind comments.

I am happy to post a video in order to show how the graphics would animate. I'll post it here shortly.

Meanwhile, any further comments relating to the stills above will be greatly appreciated.

I am happy to put together a video in order to show how the graphics would animate. Do please be patient with this; I hope I can put this together within the next day or so. As soon as it's done, I'll post it here.

Meanwhile, any further comments relating to the stills above will be greatly appreciated.

I did also like the bar at the side of the straps as well, but ultimately, if others don't like it, then they don't like it. Also, I'm sure we are all willing to be patient with regards to the video.

Wonderful work David.
The second version works well to tidy up the current graphics and make full use of the space on screen.
