Walter Presents - which showcases the best foreign language drama series from around the world - continues with this haunting and topical Polish thriller in which the captain of a border guard unit is the sole survivor of a bomb attack and attempts to find out who killed his comrades. A border guard unit that specialises in detecting people traffickers in the isolated Bieszczady Mountains on the extreme border of the EU between Poland and Ukraine becomes the target of a bomb attack and only Captain Rebrow survives. Is anyone else having sound problems when recording 'Beck' from BBC Four HD?

It sounds as though the 5.1 has not been downmixed properly, where the centre channel is missing and there is just the sound effects, background music, and very very faint dialogue (as though they're from the back speakers in a 5.1 setup).

Oh wait - turns out BBC Four fixed this one hour into the show being broadcast! (Watching on recording)

Oh - was just thinking about whether there would be a third series commissioned earlier today. If you ignore comparisons to The Bridge, and watch it standalone it's pretty watchable. Clemencé Poésy is particularly good in the programme. Series 1 and Series 2 are both worth a box-set binge.

Series 2 of Israeli series Hostages won't be shown on BBC Four and is instead available exclusively on BBC Store until 8th May.

I've been looking forward to this so a bit disappointed will have to pay extra to watch considering series 1 was on TV.

Has BBC Store been used for exclusive content before?

That would be a poor move, but the way that's phrased I would expect the series to be available on BBC4 after the 8th May.

IMO though the BBC Store should only be used for content that has either passed the iPlayer window or is from the archives. Having to pay for a series the BBC have already paid for is effectively paying for it twice.

That is what it's for. If the show is still available on iPlayer then they give you a link to it for free if you don't want to own it now.

A quick roundup:

Follow the Money series 2 ends on BBC 4 tonight, they are following it with feature length Danish drama Department Q in the same Saturday 21:00 slot from next week.

The Team ends on More4 on Friday 7, they follow that with series 3 of excellent French political drama Spin in the same slot.

For fans of French drama, I recently found out that French channel TV5 Monde (Sky 796) carries English DVB subtitles on many of its programmes. Details of what it's currently showing here: http://europe.tv5monde.com/en/tv-shows/tv-series

Midnight Sun is currently on Sky Atlantic on Wednesday nights, the whole season is available on demand.

Lastly, while not technically "foreign", we have discussed the bilingual drama Hinterland here before; it's back on BBC One Wales on Wednesday 5 April.
