I see that WHDH is still using 'Today in New England' as the title of its early-morning newscast. Presumably not something NBC can stop them doing as there's no actual Today Show branding, just a fairly generic name.

Their sister station, WSVN 7 Miami continues to use TODAY in Florida. I love how the font is nearly similar to the NBC TODAY font. WSVN used to be a NBC affiliate as well.

NBC has updated their West Capitol Hill studios (for U.K. viewers it's the same studio where ITV's Election Night originated). The studio will be where Greta Van Sustren's new MSNBC show, For The Record, will be filmed. The windows remain, they got a new similarity shaped desk, replaced the walls with faux bricks and added a monitor wall.

creatively the new Greta show is horrible. Graphics-wise its like they copied the crap done by FNC. It almost felt deliberate in its execution. From the tilted logo to the cheap and nasty Fox-esque animations it screams FNC especially if you compare it with the MSNBC programme graphics which are all flat and clean and typically not overaly fussy by comparison. Its as though they were thumbing their noses at FNC. Overall the graphics didnt feel very NBC/MSNBC. The set is a down grade. Amd the set updates were unnecessary.

Didn't even know she'd defected. And yeah, that's an uncannily similar series of graphics.

So MSNBC are moving to the right now?

Just because she comes from Fox News doesn't mean the show will specifically lean more to the right. Same with Megyn Kelly going to NBC.

From what I've read and heard she's more liberal. During the dayside they've been aiming for more straight coverage. They did can a bunch of their pure liberal view program's but kept the evening.

They'd be stupid to go conservative now. Some of their analysts (tooting their own horn / cheerleading for the network) are predicting that there will be ratings increases under a Trump administration similar to the was Fox skyrocketed under Obama and how MSNBC did in the later years of Bush 43.

Not sure why they felt the need to do such horrible things to what was a fairly nice and versatile set.

They'll no doubt be hoping that Greta brings a few Fox viewers over with her, so I guess they're going for a look and name that'll be familiar to them.

This has got to be a pretty big deal for MSNBC. I can't think of any other examples of them picking up any big names from Fox.

It looks so jarring to see her on MSNBC. Megyn goes to NBC, Greta on MSNBC, Ed Schultz on RT...maybe one day we'll see the Factor on Al Jazeera? Razz

It's interesting to see that they've gone back to poaching lots of people from other networks with a lot of splash, unlike the practice in the last few years of hiring obscure left-leaning writers, politicos, and academics with not a lot of on-air experience.

I don't think it's all that strange a move. With the arrival of Trump and the Republican-shift to the blue collar right, there is a space for MSNBC to house both the academic left-wing hosts and your urban socially liberal, economically conservatives. Greta fits into that camp. Megyn is more of an odd fit for NBC. It will make sense once the huff and puff about Trump fades and his inevitable inability to govern becomes a big deal. Fox News is already recognising this by criticising his performance at yesterday's presser and backing up arch-rivals CNN. Interesting times and, potentially, interesting ratings wars, ahead.

Well KRIV, the Fox Owned station in Houston, launched a new set today. Looks interesting except for those horrible touch screens on the desk. I'm surprised they went with a RP screen directly behind "home base" compared to the other screens it looks washed out.

KRIV Fox Houston. - Nope Nope Nope Nope Nope. This is horrible. I dont like it. At all. The layout, the design, nothing. Too much. Typical FOX rubbish. THough its strange as the other O&O have gotten decent sets. Total thumbs down from me.
