The Voice has just started on ITV (and will no doubt get trounced by Let It Shine which is still running on BBC One). They are using a filmic effect for the blind auditions, which I'm sure they usually do but I find it very distracting. Let It Shine, while still recorded, is using a more conventional 'as live' format which I think will do well for it.
Let it Shine was very underwhelming IMO, while The Voice is The Voice. Nice set, but whoever the coaches are they tend to be annoying, even for viewers used to watching The X Factor.

I thought Let It Shine was really good. Not usually a fan of BBC talent shows but this was self-deprecating, the system with needing 15 stars was good, the judges were entertaining and the hosts were well-suited.
The Voice still feels too polished and over-produced, just like it did on the BBC. It just leaves me cold.
I have to say, Let it Shine didn't trounce The Voice as much as I was expecting. They were ahead, but only 6.3 million to The Voice's 5.9 million.
I have a feeling that due to the overlap a lot of people will have recorded the voice so that they could watch and skip adverts. I think the voice had better talent but for a new show Let It Shine was different and felt more family friendly especially with Graham & Mel hosting.
