Austin and Singleton are of the Mannion, Stewart Purvis era, stalwarts of what was once an incredible ITN. ITV News under its current direction is diabolical and impossible to watch. Chronic mistakes have been made with regards to staffing, notably the positioning of Tom Brady as Lord of the Revival who can't ever deliver.

Very sad times for people at ITV News, it's no wonder people are shocked and upset.

It's a bit rich of you to have a go at Tom, considering that you can't spell his surname correctly. Laughing

Mark Austin is the Evening News now. What is his last day for leaving ITN?

I'm sure the statement said he's here until the end of the year.

40 days later

Looks like they're making Mark work till the end as according to Digiguide he's down to host the bulletins on Thursday 29th December. His last Evening News (presumably) will be Friday 23rd December with Ranvir, and his last with Mary the night before.

Thursday is an unusual day to leave, as he normally rotates Friday's with Alastair, maybe Mary can't do Friday.

Any mention yet of what his future plans are?

You realise that people can leave employment on any day of the week? If someone has to give one month's notice to end their contract of employment, their end date will be decided primarily by the date they hand in their notice, minus any annual leave or time off in lieu owing. If that screws up the bloody rota then so be it - ITN will have to find someone to cover!

Maybe they've decided it would be a waste for him to go on the final workday before Christmas when loads of viewers are in the pub? Maybe it's the ITN Christmas party that night? Maybe he's got a holiday booked leaving on Friday? Maybe his best mate on the production team doesn't work on Friday, or only works on Thursday, and he doesn't want to do it without him?

Maybe they've decided to ignore or change the rota on someone's last day? I know that's a mind-blowing concept.

Maybe it's none of our business. I thought Alastair did Fridays anyway.

Talking of Alastair considering there has been no news of a replacement I'm guessing they've gone for the obvious choice.
