What going to happen to Fox channel?

Probably going to merge with Sky1, if that's possible. But why would they, considering they just launched Sky1 in Germany.

Why would anything need to happen to it at all. Sky is currently controlled by 21c Fox and the two brands co-exist quite happily

Nothing, I expect. It's a brand with its own identity.

Fox is more male skewed that Sky1, so I doubt anything will change.

Hey, it was the best I could do.
Back on topic, I believe that bidding on Sky might actually make something, Fox gets the Simpsons (because Fox owns Sky, right? Fox owns the Simpsons?) and Sky1 gets all of it's original programming.

Everyone's getting far too carried away.

In terms of programming, branding and naming and virtually all other areas this won't make a jot of difference to Sky.

It's a corporate move, the biggest shareholder increasing their stake. There'll likely be some board changes and there are the ownership issues that arose last time.

But what's not going to happen is that suddenly a load of Americans waltz in to Osterley and start turning Sky into Fox. They'd have done that many years ago if they thought that was going to be in any way a good idea. They've not done the same to Star TV for example

Also remember that 21st Century Fox and the Fox TV network are two different things. 21st Century Fox is the holding company for both Sky and Fox amongst others

Both Sky1 and Fox are well established brands - there is utterly no way that they will ditch the Sky name. It's extremely well-established.

The biggest concern about this takeover bid is media plurality - MPs are concerned about Murdoch consolidating his power in the media industry, and Sky News radically becoming similar to the Fox News channel.

They will never merge, unless the Sky brand is scrapped. It's well established here, would not be wise to just scrap it, as said above.

Sky and Fox TV merge? Very little chance of that I'd have thought, they're two different businesses on two different continents with very little overlap (yes there's a couple of 'Fox' branded channels but they're minnows
)

Sure they might co-operate a bit more but there's no advantage of merging the two. There's little cost savings to be had and the resulting company would be too disperate to run effectively.

The name won't go either. Sky is one of the most famous brand names in the country, in fact its a genericised trademark. No way is it going anywhere, certainly not to be replaced by a brand with almost zero traction here

Maybe they might do what Star TV did in its breakbumpers and acknowledge it was a fox company underneath the logos.

Murdoch did that with BSB. They added "part of the British Sky broadcasting network" and adjusted the idents.

They could add "part of the Fox broadcasting network" or whatever they call it.

A brand can be replaced very easily (it's expensive), it just takes a few years. Abbey was replaced with Santander. Im sure at the time of takeover the name was never going to be scrapped.

Bskyb was the offical name for over ten years. Sky not going anywhere... Sky name is used across europe.

NO NO NO NO, lets get a fact straight, before this gets out of hand:

BSkyB was the official name since 1990, so about 24 years until it changed it's name to Sky plc.
