Ha! CNN hates Atlanta so it probably will only get a passing mention if that. They recently updated their promo for the CNN tour. Basically it only highlights a few things. Look into the newsroom from the catwalk. The fake studio for tourists to sit behind a disused anchor desk they found in the cellar and the shop hawking Turner stuff (likely Cartoon Network/Adult Swim and TBS programs). It used to say, see your favourite anchors......too bad there arent any left in Atlanta and the ones there are at CNNi/HLN which dont have visible studios to the public.

Final thought from me for now. I see that their coffee table book "Unprecedented: The Election That Changed Everything" is being shamelessly promoted at every opportunity. A bit early to publish anything meaningful, but I guess they are going for the bland Christmas present market.

On Amazon UK, the URL suggests it was going to be called "Madame President"....!

To be fair, you can change that part of the URL to whatever you like:

Is there any verifiable proof that CNN hates Atlanta? "Hate" is a strong word and I believe that is a little too strong for a cable network to hate a city.
My next question is that assuming the AT&T merger goes through, what happens to CNN and all Turner properties?

Yes I've uncovered secret documentation that Jeff Zucker plans on riding around in a open top bus carrying an big flag that says CNNCenter & Atlanta sucks. (This is joke. Rolling Eyes )

But current upper management have no love for the city of its birth as its virtually turned its back on CNN Center and CNN Domestic barely mentions it and are reportedly planning on selling it off and consolidating operations at Techwood and moving CNNI to London. No love lost for Atlanta.

It's a shame CNN is becoming a New York operation, because in my mind having every outlet based out of NYC only limits the ability for news outlets to properly understand or know the mood of the nation. Basically all of the media missed Trump's supporter base by the virtue of simply being based out of NYC. Being based out of a city like Atlanta is a benefit in and of itself, because whilst it is progressive-leaning like most major cities, it is located in the South. It's harder to miss/be blind to the reality of the other side when they literally surround you; the same can't be said about NYC, who's neighboured by ideologically-similar cities.

I'm a progressive, but even I acknowledge that media organisations tend to all cluster in areas, causing a fundamental disconnect between the majority of viewers and an ideologically-narrowminded press. I actually think it explains the poor state of trust and faith in the media as a whole, that they're pent up in areas which only represent a lucky few.

The same argument can be made in lots of places. NYC in the US. London in the UK. Sydney in Australia.

CNN's strength was "news was the star" and it was outside the media circles of NY and DC. They plainly and simply reported the story and they were very respected in my opinion because they were steady and there was very little commentary/discussion programmes (Think Crossfire). While I personally dont believe being based in the South makes much of difference, CNN could have been in Chicago for that matter, its strength was that it was not in the media circle of NYC and DC. Basically they are all (MSNBC,FNC,CNN) now only talking to each other, the viewer is completely ignored. All the US news channels are simply talking head discussion channels today. With the exception of CNN International and CBSN, which i regularly view, I dont really watch any other news US news channel with any frequency, as they arent any real news broadcasts anymore on those channels. Its just all politics and 2 or 3 other stories in the NYC media circle that are discussed continually by every expert known to man and then ground into a find powder. Boring.

Happy New Year!

Enjoy all the worst bits of getting stuck with the drunk guy at a party, live with CNN:

There's a Twitter thread of these.

Would love to see CNN replicate the same thing next year but in a depressing suburban/rural bar in the middle of nowhere instead of New York and New Orleans.

I love how the reporters of a respected news network are allowed to get drunk on New Year's Eve. I'm surprised Sky News have never tried to do a similar show - that saying it seemed they did with Kay this year.

Don Lemon is not respected, drunk or sober.

Really??????????????????

Just who would you respect at CNN, cos I'll take Don Lemon over some of them there any day.

Well 'respected' would come down to personal preference.
