Busy morning for caps! - There was also a failure to get the Reporting Scotland breakfast news out at 7.25 this morning. They successfully cut to this first studio shot where we could see the presenter ready to begin, but stayed on it for about 30 seconds.

*

Then the animated breakdown slide (with a montage of ident music) appeared for the rest of the opt until they cut back to Salford - about 4 minutes.

*

It was mostly back to normal at 7.56 (but the Scottish clock was somehow 3 minutes slow!?)

Well done to the regions who decided to record a bulletin to put on their Facebook page while BBC One stayed with events from America. BBC Spotlight even did their bulletin with the clock showing! https://www.facebook.com/bbcspotlight/videos/1365668573498637/

Why should viewers have to go to Facebook though when they're part of the UK's most popular news website. They should get them up on the iPlayer. ITV usually manage to get missed regional bulletins on their own website.

I have to ask why it isn't possible for regional bulletins and weather forecasts to still be aired on BBC ONE during big news events that take Breakfast off air - especially when during the average show the weather is mentioned at least every 15 minutes.

Editors and producers that are not fit for purpose ?

Particularly in view of the snow in some areas there was plenty of interest in the weather forecast today. The TV forecasts tend to be more accurate than the ones on the website where the hourly forecast often contradicts the map on the same page, so it is something particularly valuable.
