Rehearsing US election coverage perhaps?

Maybe. I hadn't thought of that. Anyways, Six One was back in the normal studio.

On that point RTE One are running coverage of the US election from 11:25pm to 3:30am on Tuesday night, and will then take CBS coverage until 7:00am.

There's also going to be a News Special at 9:00am on Wednesday morning, as well as a hour-long One O'Clock News.

I doubt that RTE will have their studio in the US, it will come from Studio 3 in Dublin with a token gesture from a rented space in Washington DC or New York most likely. Budgets at RTE are very tight.

Indeed it is coming from the usual news studio, with a large USA 2016 DOG. The titles were like something from the 1980s complete with cheesy music.

Richard Downes will be live from Washington as he was live from there earlier on Prime Time while speaking to David McCullagh.

The RTÉ graphics are quite nice to be fair.

Today, the afternoon news headlines once again came from the weekend short bulletin studio. The Six One was in the normal studio.

RTÉ News had a news special at 11am this morning following news of the death of Martin McGuinness overnight.

Nuacht RTÉ had just covered Martin McGuinness's death during it's entire bulletin on RTÉ One. It was presented by Siun Ní Ghearilt.

Brian Dobson is doing a live OB from Derry leading with the death of Martin McGuinness as the top story for the 6.1 News.

Sharon Ní Bheolaín is in the studio in Dublin covering RTÉ other news stories for today.

For the first time in the history of the known universe, or at least since 1988 - outside perhaps of odd occasions during the Olympics or World Cup/Euros - there will be no Six One news on RTE One or Two tonight (it is still scheduled on News Now).

The reason? It seems RTE at a very late stage decided All Round to Mrs Brown's should be simulcast with its BBC One showing, and Six One is the show that is taking the hit in the rearranged schedule.

Actually, Six-One is still on - at its usual time - today. The Big Big Move starts at 5:30 and has an intermission for The Angelus and Six-One! That has happened several times before.

Check these listings.
