Some movies get different edits for different territories, with different cameo appearances for things like this. It's possible that the Sky scenes you mention are replaced by CNN in some areas.

Surely it just depends on who makes the film, Fox will use Sky News and Warner Bros will use CNN?

CNN for me will always be TV for hotel rooms, as parodied by The Day Today:

Exactly. I see Sky News primarily in 20th Century Fox movies, presumably because using footage of Fox News would be polarising for American viewers.

Surprised to see Sky News so high in the mix, to be honest.

I'm guessing this includes the various channels like Sky News Arabia and Sky News Australia. Hard to see how the UK version with the clock and ads removed could come so close to the BBC's global channels.

"Multiplatform" is the operative word for that chart. It's not just TV included within those figures.

That CNN advert may be of some interest to the Advertising Standards Authority. The last time I checked, poor people also count as viewers

The only part of that advert the ASA would be interested in is the fact that they haven't made it abundantly clear what measuring methodology they are using. The term 'affluent viewers' is legally perfectly acceptable. In the corporate world, nobody loves the C2DEs - or poor people as you call them. Capitalism is cruel and cold. That's life.

They don't qualify their statement by saying that they are number one amongst ABC1 or Affluent viewers. You can't even contradict the main statement with small print - it must be clear in the main statement made.

That's nothing to do with who CNN are trying to target, or who the advertisers want to target.

Most regular viewers of global news channels are relatively affluent. Lower income viewers tend to be less interested in global news (as opposed to national and local news), less likely to travel abroad, and less likely to understand English.

Therefore, including poor(er) people would be unlikely to change the results.

Indeed, after this Presidential election, I doubt I'll be tuning in much at all during the next three years or so...
That said, reports like this show they actually do some quite incredible journalism when they put their mind to it:

I always thought you'd have to turn to the BBC and Ian Pannell for this sort of reporting.
They've even interrupted the election coverage to show this in full a couple of times in the last 24 hours.

No, not at all, it's perfectly fine. This part of a media pack and the source is listed underneath. In this case it is the Ipsos Affluent Survey which is well regarded. What they've done is standard.

As to whether or not it means anything is another matter. I started off my career producing media packs for regional press and if you play about with enough variables in a marketing program you'll eventually come up with something that sells.

CNN should be ashamed of themselves:

I've seen Warner Bros using NY1 and its anchors before.

There was an article about Pat Kiernan being the face of NY1 on TV and Movies.

Worth noting NY1 is a part of Time Warner Cable a completely separate company from Time Warner.
