Ah, the devil's always in the fine print. "Ipsos Affluent Survery Global 2016." I couldn't find that specific survey, but going off information on the Ipsos website and previous CNNI press releases, the claim in that ad probably means "most watched news channels in the world...among a survey in 87 countries of English-speaking adults ages 25-54 with an annual income of at least €80,000." So CNNI is the most watched news channel in what's probably the only demographic that CNNI advertisers care about. That's not completely meaningless, but we've seen many TV networks (usually CNN, MTV, the BBC, Al Jazeera, and TV5MONDE) time and time again cherry pick data to purport that they're the most watched channel in the world. But the methodology and scope of these global surveys and estimates only goes so far, and it's really only meant for shopping to advertisers and making slick promos like that one.
Its still basis and crap. Thank goodness for the BBC, or sky or even ITN.
Sky News is better than CNN International? It's not even a global news service. That's like saying BFM TV is better.
Of those, only the BBC is really a direct competitor to CNN, and last I checked, ITN and CNN are content sharing partners. Yes, Sky News has Sky News International, but it doesn't have any live programming unique to itself, unlike CNNI, which is a completely separate network from CNN US aside from a few hours of simulcasts here and there.
