Premier Sports have signed a new deal with the NHL to continue covering the tournament until 2021

Ahhw pucks.
Was hoping BT Sport would nab the rights to NHL thus time around.
Fills all sorts of holes, in all sorts of schedules, on all sorts of their channels in the gaps when they are not showing college football or NBA.

Agree - whilst Premier show a lot of game they'd have got wider exposure on BT Sport and I suspect if they'd have wanted it they'd have won the bid. (And selfishly I'd have been able to watch some games.) Good that Premier have managed to get the pre, intermission and post game coverage for the majority of games. Hopefully they'll bring back 'Hockey Night In Canada' - it's by far the best coverage of the game, even if it's not what it was a few years ago when NASN / ESPN America used to show it.

Well Premier Sports seems to survive basically on the NHL and NRL so doubt they could afford to lose one.

Watched the Ryder Cup on 24.5w bit of an odd one with the dip in sound at various points, maybe for broadcasters to insert ads maybe?

Seem to cut out to a SIS UK Manchester test card at the most important moments, maybe it was seen by the broadcasters who took this feed.

But yeah the graphics are so similar the only difference from sky sports are the commentators, less breaks, less gradient and less bevelling on the graphics.

I couldn't find the sky sports feed unfortunately Sad

Because Sky are probably feeding by fibre.

Talking about BT, Jon Champion is commentating on Man United V Stoke today. I believe this is his first UK PL commentary since he was doing commentary for ESPN. Of course this isn't Champions first BT Sport commentary as he is currently a regular on the Europa League and did the first Spurs game in the CL.

Normally Ian Darke covers PL games which Darren Fletcher isn't able to commentate on but that doesn't seem to be the case today, seems like he is slowly reducing his role with BT Sport.

It was indeed Champion's first Premier League commentary for BT, the third channel he has commentated on the Premier League for. In fact, there's quite a short list of people who have commentated on live Premier League games for British TV (there are a few more if you count 3D and 4K, but they had microscopic audiences), and what's interesting is not just how many famous commentators haven't done it, but how many have done it for more than one channel. They are, in order of appearance...

Martin Tyler (Sky)
Ian Darke (Sky and BT)
Jonathan Pearce (two (?) games for Sky, very early on)
Ian Crocker (Sky and Setanta)
Rob Hawthorne (Sky)
Alan Parry (Sky)
Bill Leslie (Sky)
Jon Champion (Setanta, ESPN and BT)
Jim Proudfoot (Setanta and one game for ESPN)
Steve Bower (one game for Setanta)
Daniel Mann (one game for Sky)
Derek Rae (one game for ESPN)
Darren Fletcher (BT)

Just to point out that Ian Darke has commentated on two games for BT this week, and big ones too for Leicester in the Champions League and Man U in the Europa League. It's certainly true he's doing fewer Premier League games - he's done one so far this season - but presumably it was felt three games in six days would be too much. Darren Fletcher's increased prominence on the Premier League this season is at least in part due to him losing his presenting role with the end of Fletch and Sav.

No. The way Sky are doing UHD at present is a 4 individual HD streams (Top Left, Top Right, Bottom Left and Bottom Right) or the Quad which are then stitched together back at Sky tx for distribution.

BT have just started to feed their's as a single UHD stream over IP from the stadium, which negates the need to stitch the image together.
