But I would imagine it would be a similar calibre of guest to the rebooted Celebrity Squares - in fact if they are clever, record them in adjacent studios at the same time, do several episodes a day and use the same guests in different combinations.

America has been there, done that already - but in the same studio, and with the same set..

Stephen Mulherns got a new gameshow as well 'Go for It' which sounds like You Bet.

So perhaps he could be ruled out of Blankety Blank too.

I think you could be right there: He also has the Next Great Magician to keep him occupied along with BGMT, Catchphrase and Big Star's Little Star; plus his Sunday radio show and panto as well.

Go For It is a sort of bizarre version of You Bet. I went to a recording of one of the episodes, I found it very entertaining.

Anyway, back to the price of bread: Jason Manford has done some stuff for ITV of late, he has a Dawson-esque way about him-- maybe he's another contender? Greggles-- one can but dream. POG would be a fun choice.... when his associate did it, the out-takes were legendary...

She always riffed well with Sherrie Hewson, who was forever in the top-middle seat of the panel.

Quite surprised ITV have never revived You Bet for Ant and Dec. They hosted a version in the US (which went as well as you'd expect for any show hosted by a couple of Geordies in the US) and it's a format you'd think would suit them here where viewers are more familar with both the hosts and the format, but it's one thing they didn't try in the wildnerness years between Saturday Night Takeaway and Saturday Night Takeaway.

It's a shame that Blankety Blank-a-like game show that Rob Brydon did a couple of years ago never returned. Thought that was pretty good

Boring fact about that show (A..

Originally developed as a vehicle for Brendan O'Carroll's Mrs Brown character. After non broadcast pilot, he backed out as it would dilute the character, and bring 'her' into the real world, rather than just existing in the sit-com world, which he felt uncomfortable about.

Boring fact about that show (B..

The format of celebs answering actual questions with the contestants matching panel answers, was the original way 'The Match Game' was played on NBC in the first couple of series in the mid-late 60's. The double entdre /comedy question was only used to settle draws.
When CBS picked it up in the early 70's, the producers got rid of the 'proper' questions, and ramped up the daft ones, and it turned into the format sold to the BBC and the O-10 network in Australia.

Well, that's an excellent reason for me not to watch it.

I'm not sure why, but I really can't take to Mr Walliams.

But can he take the pee out if the set and prizes? He should be able to have good banter skills.

Not sure what to make of that... he's certainly a good name and far better than some we were throwing around. However I can't help feel he would have been better as one of the celebrities, rather than host.

Yes, he'd be the ideal person for the bottom middle seat.

Not a bad choice as host though, he'll have a good rapport with both the contestants and the panelists which is important. No problem if they go down the 'isn't this all rubbish' route either

Well I won't be watching it then. How long into proceedings will he put on the faux-gay voice and mannerisms and his usual shtick he's been peddling since the Rock Profile days? Rolling Eyes

Well it's served him pretty well so far.

Yes, also it may improve the calibre of guest if it gives the show access to his big black book of celeb friends.
