I don't know really as many schools start back on the Friday of that week so i thought they would refresh everyhting before then. I didn't realise it was a Bank holiday Monday on the 29th.
Isn't the last Monday of August ALWAYS a Bank Holiday?

You can usually work out the age of posters who aren't familiar with bank holidays. This thread seems to have a larger number of people who never know where the bank holidays are.

Fair enough, but the person I quoted was in Wales. And they have the same bank holidays as England as far as I know.

Bit strange that they have sent Nick Dixon to cover the Olympics in Rio and Sean is in the Studio Reading the headlines.

They need studio cover for the next month, can't really fill that with reporters all month. Plus he'd only file like 4 live shots a day whilst out there.

That's 3 more appearances than he makes now.

When you think about it, it should have been Charlotte and Sean in the driving seats over the summer with Ranvir, Kate, etc. reading the news.

A shame they were never given the chance as I do think they showed promise in the early days and came across more watchable than Susanna and Ben, with them being new faces to terrestrial TV a bonus too. Although reducing to three was the right decision to not have Sean amongst that mix more regularly wasn't, although Ranvir is clearly an asset too. Will never see the appeal of Kate Garraway.

Charlotte though sadly did lose out through taking maternity, something any industrial tribunal would have a field day. She was clearly primary cover before she left, yet barely gets a look in now.

A tribunal would find nothing if she's still getting paid her contracted fee.

I'd imagine that she works as a contractor via her own limited company rather than directly engaged with ITV on a contract of employment, so rights would vary massively from the world of tribunals etc.

Yes we've been down this road of conversation before. It's also very different someone being shifted to a different role on screen for creative reasons than demoting someone from head of department to receptionist.

Special 'Rio' theme mix has just been played.

I bet Sean is thrilled he's in the studio rather than in Rio. It's not like they have nobody to newsread, they have a whole team of correspondents.
