2 fabulous episodes of Corrie last night. I loved the scene between Sally and Yasmeen in particular, where she spoke about when she first came to the street and stayed with Hilda and her being common as muck with her rollers and muriel etc. Fond memories of the older (better) Corrie. And I have always been a massive Sally fan. I know a lot of people dont like the Nazir family but they have grown on me a lot. Infact I think when Kal was killed off that was the turning point for them. I like them all, apart from Alya who seems a pointless character now, but Yasmeen in particular I find great.

I also liked the mix of comedy and drama, they seemed to get it spot on last night. I have always liked Mary and feel she works well in scenes with Dev and Erica. Rita was good too giving Johnny a piece of her mind.

Has anyone heard anything about Eileen Derbyshire returning to the show? I know she was taking a 6 month break and her last appearance was New Years Day so she should be returning around now. I do hope she is returning but I can understand her wanting to quit with limited fuss as she has been there for 55 years. Ive never been a massive fan of Emily, even in the older episodes she was never one of my faves, but she is Corrie old school and one of the few links to the past.

I have been wondering about Eileen Derbyshire myself. I like Emily and she is very significant to the show.

I did wonder if she may not return when they said she was taking a six month break. I have heard nothing about a return and even searched on Google. Digital Spy did a coming and going of characters from all soaps and had her down as returning but no date just in the future. I don't know if that can be relied on as gospel information or speculative.

We have to hope it's not like when Anne Kirkbride was taking a "three month break"...

Has Emily actually been written out or is she just assumed to be at home watching the TV, which would probably be the most realistic portrayal of a pensioner in Corrie for years.

She's visiting Spider in Peru.

It's not a nice thing to say, but I have to say that crossed my mind. However we shouldn't forget just how gruelling the schedule is. It's perfectly reasonable for someone of Eileen's age to want to take a break.

I'd be surprised if she didn't come back to leave on-screen if she did decide to quit. She's played the character for so long you'd think she'd want to give her a decent exit.

And now Number 6 has had a brand new staircase out of nowhere! Then again I guess it's not as dramatic as when the layout of Number 4 changed entirely, even the positioning of the staircase.

It's not really that much of a change.

It's in the same position, just with an altered bannister, and is in keeping with the other modifications they have done to the house with the addition of the 'orangery' (meaning conservatory Wink )

They've also used the space under the stairs by removing the cupboard - which is not unusual.

Didn't they move the stairs in Sally's house for a stunt involving Claire? I remember reading they moved the stairs for production reasons.

The stairs in Clare's, now Sally's, randomly moved before Rhona from emmerdale, then obsessed with Ashley, torched the house,

You're right - the stairs moved in the episode broadcast 1st April 2007, and the house went up in flames on 20th May 2007. I think they changed it to make it easier for the production of the episodes.

Another question that can be asked it where do people keep their cars? They're hardly ever parked on the street, but the only places to have garages are the two flats above the Kabin, now that Number 8 turned theirs into the "annexe".

Maybe they just don't drive? The amount of times someone's left in a taxi... and a lot of the residents seem to work in walking distance (Underworld, the medical center, the Kabin). I think when they do travel, they either use Streetcars or a bus.
