With Kylie's death tonight it's made me wonder whether Corrie should have a special theme like EastEnders use Julia's theme for when characters leave or are killed off.

In the past, Corrie has had the credits roll silently following a well-liked character's death, but I don't recall this happening for a long time now.

Yes they did used to do that right from 1960 when I started but I can't remember the last time the credits were silent at the end.

It is worth starting that tradition again though as it shows respect.

You know it's not real right?

What's the point? The CA would just talk over it anyway.

And you can hardly convey emotion easily with those awful generic credits ITV still insist on using, it's hardly the same as having them scroll silently over the final scene.

On Friday the CA didn't jump straight in as normal. Quite a bit of the theme played before an 'If you've been affected by being stabbed to death outside a kebab shop, there's help available on the website' announcement, with no credit squeeze.

I've noticed at the end of many Coronation Street videos on Youtube, an altered theme is played. It seems like a "mix" of the current theme, and the old one. It was also just played now on This Morning, in the coming up segment before the break. Is a change in theme planned?

If you mean the sting that used to be 'End of Part One' before the 2010 theme, it's been like that for years. I think that was intended to be used in 2010 but instead they just use the same as start of part two.

No, I mean this: (from 1:30)

On most occasions of major deaths after silent credits stopped, there has been no CA. There can be an order not to talk, which generally happens for major deaths, especially real ones.

That's part of the original extended closing theme - you can hear all of it here:

That does seem new but I suspect it's because the website shows a lot of archive so they've mixed the two themes.

Until they changed the format of their YouTube videos recently, I think This Morning were still using their old theme at the end of their clips.

And now Number 6 has had a brand new staircase out of nowhere! Then again I guess it's not as dramatic as when the layout of Number 4 changed entirely, even the positioning of the staircase.
