I remember that happening on Sky News a long time ago, nothing new.

I assume Son Dakika is Turkish for Breaking News and Canli is Turkish for Live.

Was impressed with Sky News and AJE. Decided to check out some of the usually good, rational CNN International coverage.

For some reason, CNNI has switched to CNN Domestic. Guess Who's on? Yup, and he's already predicting ISIS is going to take hold and expand throughout Turkey.....

Back to Sky News it is.

Does anyone know why CNN US uses a red logo on a white background and CNNI is the opposite (apart from easily identifying each feed)?

I know it's not relative to the subject but we do talk pres on here Smile

Also, does anyone know what deal Sky have with not showing the adverts that are scheduled for Sky News? Do they rebate the advertisers?

Finally, I do notice at the TOTH during breaking news stories they seem to have little blips with either their HD dog flicking off and on again and vision very quickly fading out and back in again.... New automation software?

Skygeek answered this for us during the Paris attacks. I think he said that their adverts get re-scheduled for other times.

According to Google Translate, 'Son Dakika' = last minute (which could be the same as 'latest')

'Canli' does indeed mean live, apparently.

Sky News was reporting the vehicles seen on Flightradar as being tanks on the ground at the airport. Flightradar set them straight on Twitter...

Similar to the French use of Derniere Minute to mean Breaking News then.

TRT's studios in Ankara apparently been taken back into control of authorities. Weapons siezed and multiple arrests... but for how long?

The TRT World stream is relaying the main Turkish service.

Empty studio, but lots of background noise.
London Lite and scottishtv gave kudos

Following soldiers' attempts to try and shut down the station, it appears people are fighting back (and according to Sky this is happening at a number of stations).

Speaking to the BBC, the Director of their English language service said staff phones were taken off them and people sent home so they are struggling to get the right people in the right places to get back on air. He said they continued a broadcast of sorts using Facebook Live streaming via their London office (as it was an on-air interview no more details were given).

TRT World are on FB Live only currently from London with Asha Tanna. She's spoken to a TRT spokesman who said that main service from Istanbul should come back at some point later today.

Worth noting that TRT World is in Istanbul, the domestic channels are based in Ankara.

...deleted because the flickering was related to Sky not CNN.

I imagine the main purpose is for quick and easy channel identification.

Ads in the US that are preempted are usually rescheduled and some may get refunds.
