Does anyone know if there was a "scenes that some viewers might find upsetting" at the start of part one? My box cut off the beginning. Just wondered, seeing how there was one at the start of part two, even though the actual violence was at the end of part one.

There was a warning; worded as "scenes of violence" though.

Are they still making up for episodes from Euro 2016?

As far as I am aware these are extra episodes.

I got confused halfway through Euro 2016 as to whether we had caught up with missed episodes but I think the two Sunday hour long episodes put us where we should be.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

With Kylie's death tonight it's made me wonder whether Corrie should have a special theme like EastEnders use Julia's theme for when characters leave or are killed off.

Two fantastic episodes tonight, and its not been often ive said that about Corrie these past 2 years. I loved the David and Gail scenes, both actors had a chance to shine.

Unfortunately it was ruined for me by them releasing that Kylie was being killed off and that trailer. Would have worked far better if it was a total shock. We knew Paula was leaving that was enough. No need to say she was being killed off. So a fantastic couple of episodes ruined for me for that reason.

These are not extra episodes. Corrie lost a few episode during the football, same with Emmerdale, so ITV are playing catch up. I think its only next week its on Thursday again then back to normal. I do think once they add the extra ep per week it will be Thursday or Sunday.

Yes, it was ridiculous. Prior to that coming out my assumption was that she was going to either go in jail or on the run over Callum's death.

Oh, and I also had it spoiled that Ben's being killed off in EastEnders next week- when I didn't even know he was leaving...

Corrie need to take a leaf out of Emmerdale's book about keeping things secret. When they had the summer disaster it was a secret who was being killed off, even tho a few were leaving the show. And one of those killed didnt even feature in the trailer.

Nobody knew how it was going to happen though, so that bit was kept a secret.

I can see why they do it though, don't mention anything at all, and people won't make a special effort to tune in.

Plus of course all the mags reveal everything anyway especially as next week's is out before most of this week's episodes have even been shown.

I do believe these episodes of Corrie and Emmerdale are extra, missing ones due to the football have already been made up. ITV did this last year as well, added a few extras to bolster the number of drama hours shown during the summer months in a cost effective way.

That is the problem. Far too many people "make an effort" to tune in for big episodes. If it was any good people would tune in for each episode, or as many as possible..... Corrie has a loyal fanbase bur it seems they play to the casual viewers at the expense of those who watch every episode.

As for the mags, often stuff that happens the previous week is embargoed until it airs, or it should be! And wording such as "the residents come to terms with recent events" etc are used as episode descriptions until the episodes have aired. Or they just have spoilers featuring other characters. For once the TV mags covers "Kyle Dies" was spot on this week, usually it says someone dies or someone leaves or something just to sell mags and there is not truth in it. Or they over do it just to make it sound more dramatic than it really is

Guess ratings will be the test but I'd be surprised if there was any significant bounce - and if there was they probably won't come back Monday. We see that with EastEnders all the time - they push their big episodes but the viewers just tune in and tune out.

The trick to keeping viewers watching is to have things play out on screen - viewers want to discover things as they're watching, not be spoonfed storylines.

Exactly. Being told that it was Paula's last episode tonight would have been enough. They didnt need to tell us she was being killed off before it aired! The early scenes in the first episode was pretty much ruined as we knew she would be dead by the end of the second episode. The scenes later were fantastic. But I still dont think Corrie is going to improve overall for quite a while yet.
