They're using it on the red button at the moment. Perhaps they're just keeping it there. They need some way of showing that it isn't live though. ITV used REPLAY on matches they'd not shown earlier.
Hopefully they've ditched that. With so much action available to them there are plenty of opportunities to show matches they've not already showed and they don't need that big R in the corner. A pop up during the breaks in play would be more appropriate.

Yes this makes me wonder if the Eurosport programme is a tie in with the world feed producers. But I've not seen the programme myself as I don't have Eurosport at the moment.
I suspect the highlights and their live coverage of the finals will be the world feed commentary, given many of their usual team are currently working for the BBC.
Yeah Eurosport highlights using the official world titles but setting their own highlights agenda, setanta is showing the same official titles but are showing the official world title highlights, the BBC commentators are I am sure the world feed commentators too

Ooh that's the live at Wimbledon set isn't that used by the Wimbledon official app?

I think it's got a lot to do with the quick turn around too to be honest they haven't had very long to plan in relative terms.
They've found a way of doing it on the cheap then, by using someone else's studio and no doubt using the broadcast chains that they already there for their live coverage to Belgium and others.

By holding image are you meaning a "coverage continues shortly" caption of some sort or beauty shots of the court and spectators under brollies etc while the commentators pad?
First rain delay of the championships. BBC Two currently on a holding image while Sue Barker talks on BBC One, since they were covering a centre court match there that has just finished.

No commentators, silent shot of the covered court with a caption.
Approx 1 hour 23 in here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b07jc5y8/wimbledon-2016-day-2-part-1
(strange that this is recorded from BBC 2 Scotland who took a break from Wimbledon between 14:00 and 15:15 yesterday so anything earlier than 15:15 isn't available)

Yeah that's a court feed for sure it's what shown in downtime, unusual to see it on regular BBC though if that was indeed the case.

Possibility we might see the BBC One schedule ripped up later today, as Murray has not long started on centre court in a match that has four or five sets written all over it, with Jo Konta to follow, and BBC Two has the Somme Vigil live from 1930. I can see the tennis possibly bouncing from BBC One to Two at 1800 and back to One at 1900.
