There wasn't any need for Charlotte, this morning Mark and Ranvir should have just read news together.

I don't like how Ranvir has priority over Charlotte for the presenting role. Whether this was because Mark and Ranvir have presented ITV News together on occasions, or if now Charlotte is only a newsreader and only gets presenter role when all 3 other women are unavailable.

Charlotte suits the newsreader role in my opinion. Some recent breaking news stories have shown Charlotte's capabilities as a newsreader well.

I also don't think Charlotte has the natural warmth of Susanna, Kate and Ranvir, hence why she's been 'relegated' to this role.

I think Ranvir was probably given lead role today as it would be her and Kate presenting with Mark if he replaced Ben.

Mark would be a great replacement in my opinion. I am struggling to understand the amount of proper journalists when the show is still going down the light content route. I think he did a good job this morning though.

Despite looking a tad awkward on the sofa to begin with, I think Mark did really well. He has great chemistry with Ranvir as well (and Charlotte). If Ben were to leave, then I would like like to see Susanna, Piers and Kate on Monday's and Tuesday's, with Charlotte replacing Kate for Wednesday's onwards, then Mark and Ranvir for Thursday and Friday.

Does the fact the BBC Breakfast runs 7 days a week make it difficult to compete with? If people are wanting a similar programme to watch everyday of the week then Breakfast has the upper hand. Also when tuning into Breakfast you know you'll get a good quantity of hard news (what ever time, and for however long you're watching) whereas GMB is a programme that could be watched for a longer period of time, and thus arguably suiting the weekend viewers in its current format?

Are GMB's target audience though up before 8.30 at the weekend?

I see where you're coming from there, I would imagine it does make it harder to compete.
BBC Breakfast is a breakfast news show.
GMB is a morning show with news.
Generally you don't tune into This Morning for 5 minutes, most people would sit and watch with a morning coffee or whilst doing the ironing or something which takes time. You generally have breakfast TV on for just a short amount of time and want a "morning briefing".

I think GMB in its current format would be brilliant on a weekend with more sport (but I doubt they'll reintroduce sport, there's a recurring theme with Daybreak and GMB on the whole sport thing). On weekdays I can see the 2014 format working better.

It is quite clear regarding the format that GMB has found its comfort zone. Although it would be nice to see more paper reviews and a politics slot. It's nice that they are trialling a variety of presenters to see the publics response and seeing what sort of presenting style the public like. A lot dislike Jeremy Kyle for his agressive and sarcastic way of interviewing and he had bad reviews. Whilst on the other hand Mark Austin is a highly respected broadcast journalist and people have given a positive response.
As many on the thread are speculating they might be trying to see a fit replacement for Ben Shepard if he decides to leave or if they might launch a weekend edition. What they haven't considered trying out is the young broadcast journalists starting their careers. Maybe they should try that than try and poach the big expensive names.

Nice see Ranvir in the main role and Kate reading the news Very Happy 2nd time that it happens!

Very surprised that Kate is newsreader this morning. Kind of knocks the Ben's replacement idea on the head as surely Kate would be main presenting with Mark?

I don't know if Mark is joking with everything or not but yesterday he was moaning about the early start & he's not a morning person - He thought the programme started at 6:30 - everyone knows the morning shows start at 6am on BBC, ITV & Sky News

Today he's come in tired having had no sleep as he decided to stay up and watch the football - he's only presenting the programme for 3 days so should have gone to bed early - bit unprofessional or maybe he just doesn't want to come back in the future.

Mark also told Ranvir to stop interrupting him earlier which he seemed serious about and then made it look like a joke. Kate laughed and Ranvir looked like a child that had just been told off.

Amanda Holden just asked Mark how he was feeling - you were a bit grumpy yesterday - he said I'm fine I've just not had any sleep.

Other than that I've enjoyed watching him over the last 2 days and as odd as it was having Jeremy Kyle on it got me over from Sunrise to see how they both got on over the last 2 weeks.

Also not keen on the 1 line Breaking news strap when the text is too long it just gets squashed making it hard to read - they should split it over 2 lines if it won't fit in the box

Does anyone else think the ticker goes a bit too slow and lacks detail? today's breaking news just said Marks & Spencer's clothing sales have fallen - from what, by how much?

Its unusual how they do a very similar interview live with the same people over multiple hours.

and finally... I preffered the previous music used during the opening sequence.
