International News Presentation: Past and Present

If you take a watch of One News intros from the past 30 years they have had a very similar melody to cbs evening news.

Interesting! Wonder how Sky had HD feeds for Brexit a few months ago then. Though If I remember I think it was just the front facing camera that was HD.

YouTube Gold

I remember someone at the time saying they noticed the video they used as the backdrop looping back to the start. In fact, I think that happens at 1:16 on that video because all the monitors change at the same time. The BBC World 10 second countdown is visible on the top left monitor at around 3:56 and breakfiller at 9:27 too.

Sunday appears to be episode 15!

Would be interested in the ratings too, the format seems to work well with Rylan. I’ve certainly enjoyed it more than Tenable.

I don’t think they did.

Subtitles on adverts

Do adverts with subtitles cost the advertiser any more money to use them on commercial networks than they would without them? I appreciate there will most certainly be a small increase in the cost of making the advert if the decision is taken to subtitle them, but I would have thought from a bandwidth/time point of view it doesn't cost ITV, say, any more money since the "infrastructure" is already in place to do it.

That's my understanding too. I must admit I watched the lunchtime BoJo show today on the Beeb, and it didn't jump out to me as native HD

Politics Live will be on BBC One at 12.15.

I do wish they wouldn't swap programmes from one channel to another. The series link on a Sky STB just won't recognise the change and the next schedule recording is simply moved to the next day. It also takes HOURS for the programme to appear on iPlayer.

It’s a massive oversight not to properly build studio spaces any more in my opinion. They always suffer from things like lack of height, lack of depth, lack of sound soak, too much rogue light (I’m looking at you The Mailbox), natural light in the wrong place (thinking about the original plans for Breakfast at Salford) or lack of access (for things like the set to go in).

This may be a question you can answer; are things like rogue light and whatnot down to a technical team simply not caring enough or is it money? The Mailbox have had some perfectly lit sets and within a few days or in one case 5 hours (when they changed sets in 2012 springs to mind) the lighting is a washed out mess.

Surely, they should have handed over to ITV News to cover the speech and analysis?

Wasn’t it a bit short notice? And they probably thought it was worth utilising Nick and Julia.

I think ITN could of provided something, it was common knowledge about this commons statement.
I guess for ITV viewers, keeping Holly & Phil on might keep more viewers on board.

Given the nations might have slightly different restrictions announced, BBC One Scotland is doing their own news special too. It's just been promoted on lunchtime Reporting Scotland with this, er, unusual slide:

Looks like people standing in a line next to each other on a beach which is something that shouldn’t be promoted in these times.
