YTV or Granada

I`ve just noticed another mistake on YTV. The Granada spinning heart was present for a full 10 seconds during the junction into Coronation Street at 230 on YTV with a generic announcement. Did Tyne Tees get this also? What about Granada did they see the YTV heart instead of their own. I hear this is happening a lot at the moment, how is this possible. And finally I think I prefare the Granada Heart to the YTV one

They're exactly the same! Also thats different is the logo.

People complain about Carlton making mistakes but I've seen far more sloppy work on YTV and Granada. (Ducks from flying objects)

I saw the cock up too. Another YTV mistake. That makes dozens in the past couple of weeks.

Twice in past months they've cut to a programme too early, resulting in a viewing of the Granada ident. This'll be worse once new idents are launched!

Look on the bright side -- usually when Leeds goes to pot like this it means that change is just round the corner -- wonder what they're up to ....

In answer to the original question (or one of them ) the reason why Granada idents appear on YTV (and Tyne Tees) is because they all come from the same building. Up until about 1998/9 only YTV and Tyne Tees were broadcast in this way, and YTV were the prime station of the two (quelle surprise ) so YTV looked fine while TT's continuity was dross. Now Granada is the prime station (believe it or not) so when something goes wrong you see the Granada feed.

Contrary to popular belief the reason you see the Granada ident is not because they run TT/YTV continuity 'over the top of' Granada's, they only do this in emergency situations (read when something goes wrong!) and since everything is controlled by computer the idents are faded into the programme all at *exactly* the same time, and if you fade the YTV ident into the Granada feed at the same time as Granada is fading into the programme you get 3 images on screen simultaneously, and that is what happens here. This afternoon what probably happened was that some monkey programmed the system to fade the YTV logo into the programme when the ident was *starting* rather than *finishing* leading to the cockup you saw.

Didn't know announcing programmes was that complicated! Ta for that!

They rarely show a full wrong ident for another region though,

The wrong annoucement or a slight second of another ident are much more common.

It'll still be worse with non-generic idents though. So watch this space!
