Has it been claimed it's random?
Here's a couple of quotes from the first week:
Dermot: "we're going to spin the x factor [sic]; we find out next weeks theme"
Simon on xtra factor: "as the show was going on tonight I'm thinking about the songs"
It's just a (stupid) device to introduce the next theme.
What are the chances? The "random" jukebox selects Fright Night for Halloween while the conveniently cued up music and graphics play instantly.

The twist in the Australian X Factor 2016 is amazing. Bring on the Underdogs!!

It's a 4th category 'Underdogs'.
Basically the Aus XF has only 3 categories, under 22, over 22 & Groups.
They then brought in the Underdogs category made up of contestants who were previously rejected by the other 3 judges.
Mel B was brought in to mentor the Underdogs.

Australian version normally has four judges, the first series being the only one with three judges. Mel B was a judge a few years back with Ronan Keating, Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Guy Sebastian. Certainly a better addition to the show than a non-random jukebox!

Watching clips of the Australian X Factor I really don't understand why it's not shown in full here in the UK other than it would show how bad the UK version really is!!!
