Hi, Has anyone noticed the new look Powergen National Weather Forecast. To me it is stupid, i don't understand what some of them mean.
I have JUST seen the windy one. There is no voicer over saying "Powergen, power in good hands" and no music. BORING!
What does anyone else think???

They have been on all week. I dont get them at all. The only one that they've used all week is the wind turbines one with the hippy character.

I dont like how they have no music at all. Though its up to powergen not itv, as Learndirect have changed their sponser bumpers for this morning from the ones with the music to the ones like the adverts with the cartoon girl and rabbit.

Well said, Cowboy.

In ordinary posts, sadly, we have to put up with it, but when thread titles are wrong, I reckon the thread should simply be deleted by the moderators.

And I'll take a pound to a pinch of doggy do that the only response we get from the illiterate little twit is "but how do I corract it?".

Don't turn this thread into another where LOVE TV! does a "tv" subject and the other members start mocking them. Nobodys perfect and we can't all be great spellers, what are you going to do, CALL THE LANGUAGE POLICE?

By the way LOVE TV!, I prefered the previous Powergen Weather Sponsorship

You prove my point perfectly, Sir.

How can I possibly decide whether I want to mock the subject, when the spelling thereof makes it impossible to decipher?

Mr Harvey, I hope indeed that my translation (attached to the original post) assists you in your decision-making process.

Actually, I was going to suggest he call mis-spellers anonymous.
What's wrong with using a spellchecker anyway, if he hasn't got the wherewithall to do it himself, he might end up improving by such means.

My thanks to you for your trouble, Mr Servo, Sir.

Please take a small cup of tea in recompense.

With the additional information now to hand, I've decided that, on reflection, I WILL mock the subject.

Given the appalling spelling of some of the members of this forum, shouldn't we be having a go at the education system and how English and its use is taught?

Obviously, the members who suffer from dyslexia or are from countries other than Great Britain should be exempt from criticism, but I think the poor standards of education are more to blame rather than an affliction that should be better understood.

However, there is no excuse for so-called text-speak or sloppy spelling whatsoever for people who's first language is English (and I include the US contingent and their way of spelling certain words differently in this category).

If anyone wants to quibble - go right ahead... English is not my first language. It's my ninth ahead of various Indian dialects.

What I find most irritating are sentences which are reasonably comprehensible, but which are spoiled by having "lol" tacked onto the end.
