Has anyone got any material of The Weather Channel.

You know it used to be on SKY 6am-11am until it disappeared one morning a couple of years ago.

There used to be loads of different titles and stings etc, for all the different weather slots, and for presenatation enthusiasts, you could tell to the exact second, what was going to appear next.
They used to have a blue logo, Carol Kirkwood and other BBC Weather forecasters started here.

Anyone remember phrases such as 'Local Weather on the 8's' and such like

Does anyone know when The Weather Channel began on SKY?

If it begun earlier/later on Cable?

And what day it abruptly came to an end in the UK?

I remember it, but I don't really have much of an idea when it started and finished. I reckon it launched in 1996 and I know it didn't stay on SKY very long, maybe only a year!
I do have some old satelite books in the loft though from this period of time, so I might be able to let u know soon.

I certainly remember it on Telewest Cable a few years back and it used to be on for most of the day.

I don't remember much about it, but do remember there used to be a permanent ticker at the bottom of the screen which used to tell you what the weather was like in your town (I don't know if this was available on Sky). For me, it used to be something like Southend - rainy - 8C.

It was an American channel - I think they own weather.com but certainly weatherchannel.com

Viewers on SKY never had a ticker!
It was (is) an american organisation, but the UK service was fully made in the UK.
Carol Kirkwood used to be one of the main presenters

I think the Weather Channel was on the same frequency as Sky Travel and Sky Movies Gold (is that what it was called?) wasn't it?

It was on Channel 60
The Racing Channel used to come at at 11, I think Sky Movies Gold came on later in the afternoon.

Sky Travel was on 47 I think, with Sky Sports 2 ?

I remember there being seven channels all sharing the same analogue frequency - I think they were Sky Soap, Sky Travel, History, Sci-Fi, Weather, Movies Gold and one other??

I don't know if I'm getting two channels mixed up, but there was definately one with seven channels!

The weather channel was full 24 hours on good old cable. It launched before SKY on cable, and closed down on cable after it closed down on SKY. Cable also had regional opt-outs.
