I quite like the trail which can be viewed on the link (sorry, I thought the embed code worked); a fairly balanced mix of promoting programmes, places and people; smoothly produced and sincerely reflecting on past and present.

Any thoughts?

(As the last UTV Presentation Thread has been archived, I'm opening a new thread for this)

And, according to Twitterer @MisterVivian at 6.00pm this evening, UTV are using new idents.

The slogan feels the wrong way round to me. It's a bit much to suggest a TV channel is "part of me" but I'd quite like the idea of "U are part of UTV" or, even better "UTV: U make it what it is" or something like that.

I have heard that UTV still use in-vision announcers - is this true?

I am pleased that UTV remains a separate company (as does STV) and that both channels still have their own identities. Of course, all the identities of ITV are just a thing of the past.

Didn't the BBC use that slogan (well, "You make it what it is") immediately after the 1997 rebranding?

"UTV is yoUr TV" lasted an awful long time and is the UTV slogan I think which is most stuck in the minds of the viewership. I think the part "Part of U" refers to Northern Ireland in general rather than the individual particular viewer.

No more UTV jingle! Though we said that before in 2002 only for it to come back (never as prominent as its former incarnation, though).

Whilst I don't watch much UTV these days, last time I checked Julian Simmons was still doing his thing on Friday and Saturday nights. Last night might have been an exemption because the England game meant the usual schedule was ripped up and there wouldn't have been many links for him to do.

Oh good, they're keeping that nice 3D graphic. It looks nicer in that washed-out shade too IMO.

It seems that landscape idents are back in...

Good work on the soundtrack: it sounds 21st century, like money's been spent on it and works with and without announcements over it. Nice Jib work too.

Although can't UTV find a few more locations where they've not filmed idents before? Going back to Lurgan Park, the Mournes etc. again is slightly tedious and implies they aren't exploring as much of the NI landscape as they could in almost a decade.

The only ones in that new set where I think they're visiting for the first time are Peatlands Park (despite saying Dungannon, the park's still in County Armagh, so not quite another ident from Tyrone on the UTV!) and Ballybogy.

I personally would have made the logo just one colour, and got rid of the yellow and red.
