I don't see why they couldn't, if they wanted to. After all UTV Ireland's original look was just UTV NI's look with different idents in the same style (even the same music) and the background colour of the break bumper and trailer end board recoloured green. Now the only elements of the UTV NI look remaining on UTV Ireland are the logo and the news theme.

I'm lead to believe that after rebranding as UTV2 it became a straight simulcast of ITV2 though. I've never seen any captures of UTV2 or S2 (would be interesting to see); all I know is that they both had a massive opaque DOG to cover up the massive but transparent one ITV2 had. Was there ever a UTV2 ident?

Afaik the reason there is very little captures of UTV2 is that it was only on air for about three years and was during that time only ever available to ONdigital customers in Northern Ireland. As I understand it one of the short lived 2000 idents UTV used (the very last set with the 1993 logo, which only lasted six months) was based on TVyou's break filler - it didn't sell any advertising.

HTV Wales Wales Today
The idents count for little when they've not got the programming to give the channel any sort of identity. With them not having the rights to The X Factor, Downton Abbey and the Rugby World Cup there were opportunities to invest in some local content over the next couple of months but there seems to be nothing - and they've already axed the show from their big launch signing.
Shouldn't that have been posted in the "John Logie Baird has Invented Television" thread?
