The Games 2005: on Channel 4, E4 and online March 2005.

The Games is back for a third series, with ten more famous faces competing in eighteen events for one ultimate prize: to be crowned Champion of The Games 2005.

Kirsty Gallacher.
Mel Giedroyc.
Chesney Hawkes.
Lisa Maffia.
Jonathon Morris.
Philip Olivier.
Kevin Simm.
Anna Walker.
Craig Charles.
Princess Tamara Czartoryski-Borbon.
The celebs have already begun a gruelling three months’ intensive training with world-class sporting experts and Olympic medal winners in preparation for The Games.

There’ll be live coverage of each event on Channel 4 and live streaming before and after on E4, plus you’ll be able to get up-to-the-minute news and pictures throughout each day online

One of my favourite reality shows - probably the best celebrity reality show.

With no public voting it just seems more natural than any of the others - and it's nice to see a good bit of competition.

It's also quite inspirational to think that if they can get to a fairly decent standard at a handful of sports in a few months, so can you!

Been enjoying the "Athletes in Training" programmes this week - very well put together and very watchable!

One thing to note though is the live late-night streaming moves from C4 to E4 this year - a shame as you don't get many highlights in the C4 show.

Also, it doesn't air till after midnight most night on S4C. I don't know what S4C are playing at lately - over the last few years they had just about got the balance between airing C4 and Welsh programmes right, but now we seem to be back to a similar situation to it's early days with many of C4's flagship programmes airing in very late slots - most notably Shameless (though No Angels is now simulcast with C4).

I've been watching the 'Athletes in Training'. Can't say I'm all that impressed so far.

The blokes are bigger nancies than the women!

"Ooh I've damaged my shoulder" "Ooh I feel sick today"

Hmm, lets get you a cheuffuer driven car to see the doctor Rolling Eyes

My unpopular vote so far...
(Girls): Princess Tamara, Kirsty Gallacher
(Boys): Craig Charles

Have you seen Kirsty Gallaghers bad teeth?

Either the clock at the Sheffield Pool was 30 minutes slot or The Games: Live wasn't quite as live as they'd like us to believe.

A great first show though - and I notice yet another change in presenters for the E4 show!

Interesting.
I never even noticed. I do know that E4 had to fill with a long trailer and contestant reports for 5 minutes, with a scrolling message saying that the channel 4 show was currently over running.

And even though they're a change in presenter, Justin Lee Collins and Caroline Flack are excellent presenters, JLC is always great, and Caroline is very sarcastic and likes to get the dirt out of people, they work well together, and am loving the E4 coverage, even if it was only for JLC wearing a nappy for the heats of the judo on today's 3pm show.

At least they fill the slot.

Probably one of the most annoying things about these spin-off programmes is they usually begin before the main programme has actually finished!

Yes. I nipped into Ponds Forge this morning and that clock is definitely about 24 minutes slow. Whether something went wrong when they put it forward one hour on Saturday night, I don't know.

Out of interest - who is providing OB facilities for The Games.?
Normal Endemol UK shows use Roll To Record, but as this has a sport slant to it, I'm guessing they are using a OB company used to sports coverage.

BBC Resources perhaps?

Well, this was on Friday night before the clocks changed!

I wouldn't trust any technology at Ponds Forge, when I've been for many a swimming event in the past, there's been at least one fault either with the surroundings or technology. It's usually that the screen doesn't work or work correctly, etc. The only thing that's usually spot on is the pool, and I suppose that's the main priority.

Though of course as the programme started at 9:30 instead of the usual 9 on friday, they may have started proceedings at 9 and recorded it, then again!

A fantastic and controversial Champion of Champions last night. Glad this years team won - though next year I'd like to see the CoC extended to 2 days with Swimming and Diving added on the first day.

And though it didn't affect the overall results, once again Team 2003 should have been disqualified in the relay following an error by Josie D'Arby. Last year Team 2004 were robbed - but thankfully this year the final result wasn't affected.

The biggest question of the night though was Kirsty Gallagher appearing in London "live" at 7.15pm then in Sheffield at 9.30pm. Is that physically possible?
