Well deserved... must be hard work getting paid so much to do an hour or two's work on a Saturday night for half of the year.

Bruce Forsyth is a TV legend and not many have had his longevity in the industry, it's a great achievement. So I think your sarcastic tone is uncalled for here.

I'm with Phil on this one, I'm afraid.

There are others far more deserving than Bruce.

I'm not disputing there are people who do amazing things in their lives who don't get recognised but in terms of Light Entertainment and the fact millions have tuned to his programmes for years is something special.

Are those who against this also against all entertainers such as Elton John getting honours?

Elton John has done a VAST amount for charity. But I agree, Brucie deserved this.

The guy is 83... I'd imagine the gong is recognition of his life's work rather than what he's doing currently. In the context of people like Parky having a knighthood I think it's deserved.

Someone did mention on the radio this morning, that Ken Dodd should've had one too!

I suppose a small matter of his taxes from quite a few years back might have scuppered that one?

He was acquitted of that don't forget Wink

I think it's only right Ken gets knighthood; he's comparable with his showbiz career (in terms of length), and he's still going strong, packing out theatres across the country. I just hope I have his stamina and acuity when I'm 82! He certainly provides good value for money with his shows too. Eric Sykes would be another good candidate, come to think of it.

I think it was good this year that the press pointed out that 75% of people who received honours, weren't celebs.

Dennis Norden showed the out-takes from this, but I'd never seen the show.
