and This Morning and probably that live Gordon Ramsey show on Channel 4. Using Skype which itself is a few years old now is nothing new really. Although if it were used on a 9pm ITV1 show it may be new to many viewers I suppose.

Except it can work really well. Oprah has used it on her show in the last year (I caught a random episode on Diva.. yikes), and I was really impressed.

They had about 8, maybe more, contributors to a debate being back projected into panels in her set - and even via Skype the pictures looked good and the sound was adequate.

I expect there was a certain amount of editing in post to make it so seamless, but they did cut to a shot of their comms area in a commercial and there were an array of monitors with the Skype contributors lined up.

Just struck me as a great way to have so many outside sources to a show without being very expensive at all.

I've not really seen Oprah Wink so I can't say how it works on their. If you say it works good, I'll take your word for it. But every time I've seen it on shows in the UK ( mainly the few mentioned already) it hasn't been very good.

Uh huh... I did say "editing in post to make it seamless".

In other news, rain is wet.

No, you thought it was live until Gavin reminded you that he'd already said you could tinker with it.

Glad they didn't do Skype! Laughing

Paul O Grady's show is a lot better than expected as well! Although it proberbly won't because of the competition ( New Tricks, Last ever BB), I hope it does well.

Well ITV are actually trying to have a varied schedule and more comedy/entertainment on a Friday night, which they should be appluded for and if it doesn't do well then I can see them not bothering as much and just put a old drama repeat. I know which one I'd prefer to be honest.

One thing, was it just me or was that big balloon suppose to pop at the end?

I liked it, I hope ITV keep it, it makes a change from drama

I think Joyce popped the balloon

Yeah what I meant by the balloon - do you not think it was suppose to pop properly, rather than just punctured and then land on the ground?

A great start to the series.
Paul had a good rant at the top of the show, the guests were good, as were the performances, even the little sketches into the break were quite well integrated.

It's nice to see Joyce as she has a very strong personality for such a programme. I just hope that we don't see kids appearing & random fillers of public making films.

I'm glad that ITV are trying with new ideas such as this. I did think when looking at the schedule that some sort of game show could have fitted in quite nicely at 8:00pm, maybe even continue the entertainment by airing Celebrity Juice after the news. But as said anything is better than midsummer murders again.
