I'm not sure who provides television listings to the various services these days but it was interesting to note that whoever provides listings for 5STAR to DigiGuide uses the term "(Oracle)" to denote subtitles.

The following is quoted by DigiGuide as the unedited data they receive from their listing suppliers (the issue being reported was regarding the wrong episode being listed compared to the Sky/Freeview EPG):

Funny since Oracle closed at the end of 1992 and 5STAR didn't launch until 2006 (as Five Life).

This is stupid. Shouldn't S for subtitles, or the old page number 888, be used instead? After all, Oracle could never have been used across the board, as the BBC had Ceefax instead. Channel 5 never had Oracle's successor Teletext either, they had their own 5text provided by Sky.

teletext did take over Channel 5's service for a while, didn't they?
