Fantastic programme. The opening ceremony contained some of my favourite ever moments of television. Ever.

Agreed. An unforgettable night. I had the privilege of watching it with 80,000 others in Hyde Park and I can still feel the hairs standing on the back of my neck when I watch it.

If you have a spare 30 minutes, I would totally recommend another look at this documentary - aired around Christmas 2012 and very kindly uploaded by its producer/director Eric McFarland - 'Olympics 2012: Through the Lens'.

The tear in Hazel Irvine's eye as voices her memorable commentary during the forming of the rings in Pandemonium really is very touching. I remember her words just as much as the event itself.

The opening ceremony left me in awe at some points, hard to think of another television broadcast that made me feel something like that. One day I'll rewatch it, but not for a while I imagine

I was at the 2012 opening ceremony in one of the standing areas. The rule was that you had to be a resident of one of the five host boroughs for a ticket in that spot. A fantastic night it was.

It was very good, much better than the one in 08. I tried to get tickets but lost out, so watched it on TV. Still at least I could see the fireworks. Very Happy

Earlier I manually tuned the Sky box into the first six BBC Olympics HD feeds, just to take an early look. (At that time they hadn't gone live on the EPG, I assume that's still the case.) One thing that struck me was that the DOG looks rather messy at present... It needs more translucency, and also the numeral at the end doesn't look particularly good at all to my eyes! Additionally the DOG strays outside the overscan safe area... It's all a bit unsightly - I hope it gets tweaked!

I hope the DOGs are temporary identifiers while they set things up and won't actually be present during the action.

It was great. The 'Imagine' doc was brilliantly put together.
I could watch footage of the whole 4 hours of Hamish Hamilton directing it. No problem.

Will have to dig out the DVD. To be honest not sure I ever watched more than the Opening Ceremony DVD of the 5 disc set.

Have to say watching the Imagine doc brought a tear to my eye as well. Can't believe it was four years ago yesterday

The OBS version of the Opening Ceremony with Barry Davies' commentary is still (at time of writing) available in it's entirety on the IOC's YouTube channel

How weird a testcard comes on at the end, those OBS London Olympics titles were excellent, hopefully via the BBC feeds we can see the OBS official titles for Rio.

We've seen the official titles on the OBS streams in 2004, 2008 and 2012, I'll be very disapointed if they don't appear this year!
