Ceefax music - but no ceefax, just a display showing what's coming up in the Signzone.

Has anyone seen this before?

Gagh - too late. It ended by crashing midway into the Antiques Roadshow titles.

Seemed a bit strange to me - normally network continuity is retained throughout the Signzone. However as BBC Scotland had a lot of regional alterations this week, they're carrying their own version tonight. It did seem at one point like they were trying to cover up a breakdown though...

They do that in Wales when there's a gap before the networked Sign Zone after a Welsh opt out... Although Wales has never used Pages From Ceefax as a filler.

Hadn't come across it myself before to be honest, but fair enough.

Only odd thing is that, as far as I can tell, they weren't waiting on the network, as they were screening programmes timeshifted from earlier in the week. BBC1 England was showing Hallowe'en 2 instead.

Glasgow does not have its own Ceefax generator so has to take a feed from London (ie. the BBC2 network generator). There may well have been a problem on the night in question.

But they may have been waiting to catch up with something else later on... i.e. put Antiques Roadshow on for last half hour of Halloween etc.

Slightly off topic but was 'Points Of View' transmitted in Scotland at any point this week?

Last week it was 15 to 20 mins earlier than England, but nowhere to be seen yesterday AFAIK !

That would be deeply ironic. Didn't Points of View feature a complaint about BBC Scotland's 'interesting' scheduling the other week...?

Scotland and Wales were doing the exact same thing on Friday night, starting Under Seige 2 half an hour later than England, they had Antiques Roadshow (signed) scheduled for an hour after this and Weatherview. Antiques Roadshow had been shown in England on Wednesday night. The end of Antiques Roadshow was timed to meet the start of Top Gear in England but maybe it didn't quite.

Points of View was on BBC 2 Scotland at 18:10 yesterday.

As an aside, does anybody know why the BBC don't do as every other European broadcaster, and display its teletext pages through a modern character generator ?

Anyone who has seen off air European TV will know what I mean, I've Googled but can't find any screenshots to illustrate my point.

Would these be Nightscreen-style pages?

I remember the high-definition text pages screened by 3sat during downtime around 1996. Every night a different jazz CD would be used and the schedule for these was published on the regular analogue teletext service.

Sort of like that. I've not seen Nightscreen for a long time. They all have the same distinctive style, I'll ask one of my contacts on the European mainland what is used ?
