Well the other one seems to have been deleted, so here's another thread for us to chat about our regional programmes.

Did anyone see NWT today? It was presented, unusually, by Nigel Jay! Tina Bangs did Breakfast, and Nigel has done lunch, evening and will be doing late. I thought he was really good - he's a great laugh. Usually, Martin Henfield does the Bank Holidays, but Nigel was a great improvement.

BTW, what does everyone think about the weekend bulletins now coming from the normal stuido rather than self-opt? I think its much better. Also, tonight they finished on a nice end shot, with the infrequently seen North West Tonignt full closing titles:

Oh dear, is that their studio? If it is, it's awful! I've never saw North West tonight, but the studio is definately awful. It looks extremely bare!

LOL, yep thats it! We're not all as lucky as you up in Scotland! Reporting Scotland's studio is fabulous. Ours isn't bad, but I suppose it could be better!

I do like the carpet though, hmm, yes it's nice! But that horrible window (plasma?) it has to be the worst!

Yes, I do agree with you there Gary. The 'window' is a bit strange.

Also: Due to the World Cup coverage on BBC ONE, Thursday, Friday and next Monday's Regional News will be on BBC TWO, at 1330 - meaning viewers of Digital Satellite will be able to watch Newsline, Reporting Scotland or Wales Today!

Well I missed the actual programme, but I've been told it was Stuart Flinders. They did an OB during North West Tonight, where Nigel linked to Stuart in a crowd.

Was anyone there there in Manchester at the back of Marks & Spencers yesterday, that massive BBC screen was up but when we went past it they were showing ITV's coverage of the england match. Is this screen owned by the council or the BBC?

Plus I think that having Granada Reports at a desk is much better than them sofas as it used to look like a very naff version of This Morning. It is also great that they brought back Tony Wilson, he has made it alot better.

And digital cable and terrestrial viewers will get to see lunchtime LDN - not an everyday occurrence. Pity there's no clock now. This time next year, when BBC2 regions have been discontinued, will they just not be able to do what they're doing at the end of the week - or will they do it anyway, despite there being nothing else regional on the channel? (obviously analogue will still get it)

Nigel Jay was great today - after coming back from "love, love, love" (x674) he said "well, at least you know the words now" Laughing
