Just noticed the Granada logo that is being used on their new film, The Queen, is this new?

Shame the image wasn't bigger, the Granada font looks a bit like their pre G days

i wish they'd be consistent with their endcaps, they've gone from having the same one for years (you know, the one below) to changing it on nearly every programme they produce.

I remember the episodes of Poirot had a static GR/N/D/ logo while Tales of the unexpected had an animated one. But that one you've had there is one of my favourite Granada endcaps next to the white one.

That one there is my favourite Granada logo - I wish they would use that one again.

Nah, that's the font from the Arrow-G days on this new logo, definately.

That "arrow-G" always makes me think of the wheelchair/disabled icon, on signs. Very Happy

Yes, I've always thought that there's a similarity too.

The Clarendon font was actually introduced before the 'unicyclist holding an umbrella' in this relatively short-lived logo...

Funnily enough, this is what I thought of when I saw the new logo for the film.

I actually rather like the idea of the new logo - it's a bit retro, and has echoes of Granada's golden era of the 70s and 80s. Of course the question is, will we ever get to see this new logo on TV (other than when they show the film of course)?

Whilst regional continuity and presentation is almost certainly gone for good, I do think there's a very strong argument for reinstating endcaps for some of the ITV regional companies. In fact, wasn't there an interview in MediaGuardian recently with an ITV executive bemoaning the loss of strong brand-names like Granada in favour of ITV Productions?
