I'm getting the new filler here in Canada (which is fed off of PAS 9). It's a lot better than the "Coming Up" Screen. I would prefer it to all be text information and I liked the old music better, but to each his own.

It looks really good, I am gonna have to have a look, before commenting on it, it's a shame the same thought and imagination never goes into News 24's graphics.

That's really sweet ... I'm glad to see they're doing something productive again with the breakfillers instead of those horrible Just a Moment ... shorts. I don't quite like the music as much, but it's still very good. Excellent work, World.

itsrobert, do you know if this is just for Asia, or are all the feeds getting the new breakfiller?

Not sure about them all, but both FTA feeds across Europe (HotBird, and Astra) are taking it, and as Gary said, so is the east Asia feed. I would imagine BBC World India will be taking it, as they had the old one AFAIK.

Yeah, it's been on both the Astra 1 and Hotbird 6 feed tonight. It's really really nice!

The Astra feed is perculiar isn't it? It is really poor quality, and in fact looks as if it is taken from the HotBird analogue feed (I'm watching HotBird digital) because there are sparklies on bright colours, which aren't a feature of digital television! Anyway, for the last few hours, both European feeds have been inserting a couple of adverts over the breakfiller, then opting back into it for the last 30 seconds or so. I suppose they have to do this in order to get funding!!

I agree itsrobert, this feed comes from Canal Satellite package of channels, and it's not a very good one, it was previously encrypted, but recently made FTA.

Ab Fab! As usual World pulls away and comes out with something really good. Love the design, love the music!

great improvement over something that was already good. this morning on BBC America after BBC World News, there was a new "promo" for, check this out......."BBC News, making sense of it all". Usually its BBC World that makes sense of it. Kate Adie and Jeremy bowen were in the promo, I cant remember who else but it was well put together.

anybody seen it?

The new breakfiller is fantastic (although the previous one was great) and I am so pleased that they have kept the countdown. This is going to be getting a makeover soon too I hear - perhaps we will be treated to some new music, although the current music is fab.

Only glitch I have noticed is that the breakfiller countdown sometimes starts at 6 mins plus and cuts off before it reaches zero. I am watching it now for the 0800 headlines, it started at around 06:03 and cut off at 04:58 before going in to HSBC Local Knowledge. Then it was a 22 second countdown and headlines with Martine Dennis.

I really like it apart from the colour...yellow, yuck!

Was watching it occasionally yesterday, obviously a slight teething problem with the 'Next:' data, At one point it said 'Next: Dynamic Junction' .... which is what we were seeing at the time!

Well... I'm not so impressed! It's a great idea but where I am (São Paulo) the first glaringly obvious mistake is that we see current time in GMT next to schedule info in CET! (I saw from the screengrab schedule information displayed in HKST). It seems weird considering the previous info was shown in GMT.

I also can't believe anybody who is watching this to get information rather than as an anorak would be able to watch a trailer whilst there is a changing list of when to see the programme on the right hand side.. and being given weather/financial info at the same time. it's simply too much to take in.

I personally think it gets *just* as boring for a regular viewer considering there's no weather page, finance page etc and so we're seeing the same comments about the Italy Blackout or "this week in history" again & again.. I suspect this will be updated on a weekly basis only, so you *will* get bored of it!

I wonder how the trails makers will get on now.. it looks like there are virtually no "normal" trailers and edited versions of previous ones squashed into 13" windows within this sequence (mostly without music track) so It's looking pretty much like they'll be restricted on their creative flow for new trail ideas!

Nobody has pointed out that - from a technical point of view - some of the trailer audio completely disappears in the music (I'm not sure how this sequence is mixed) nor has anybody discussed - from an artistic point of view - how the music has nothing to do with either BBC station sound nor fits the 15" segments nor how it fades in a very unspecial way at the end. Please tell me it wasn't composed by David Lowe!!!!! Confused

I think the colour scheme means you hardly notice the page title (name of programme, this week in history etc) - the bottom right box serves little purpose since the finance/weather data appears while you are being shown something else and therefore is just extra "noise".

The only thing I like is the background matte and countdown to the next programme.. the rest is like Bloomberg on Acid with bad library music IMHO.

That isn't a glitch. The breakfiller is what the Pres gallery at World plays out during breaks, but regional operators may opt out and in again to display regional advertisements.

Sorry I think you misunderstood me. The breakfiller countdown started at approx 06:03 and ran to 04:58 approx, before going in to Local Knowledge (lasting under a minute) and then a 22 second countdown. However, there was only around 2.5 mins until the top of the hour (0800). Therefore, the breakfiller was definitely wrong as there was only about 2.5 mins until the headlines, not over 6 mins.

Well I haven't seen much of it, but it looks OK, I guess all the text is dynamically generated, hence the computerised look of it.

BTW, with the one breakfiller I saw, it ended rather abruptly, is that still happening?

AFAIK, it isn't a set length anymore, it seems to be a continuous filler, and the gallery just show a section of it, depending on how long the break is. So, they just fade it out when the break is finished.
