Although it's the Loose Women, rather than the show Loose Women, facing the axe. The reports suggest ITV want to revamp it rather than axe it.

Sounds like they basically want to steer it back to a format like The View. To do that they'd need to add some journalists to the lineup (Moira Stewart, Angela Rippon maybe?) and get rid of the likes of Denise Welch. They'd need to keep some lighter panelists though.

I would say they'd have to rebrand it for that to walk - the name Loose Women is just too associated with pure drivel. Of course they did try that at some point during the early days and rebranded it as "Live Talk" IIRC. Didn't last too long though.

If they are going back to the newsier side of things, Julie Etchingham would be a good addition to it...

Worth noting it was reportedly Helen Warner who gave Carol Vorderman the ultimatum which saw her leave Countdown during her time at C4. So she is ruthless, though that turned out to be absolutely the right decision for the show.

Apparently it started off as Loose, then rebranded as the newsier Live Talk for two series, then relaunched as Loose again.

Live Talk was never on at 9.25am (I'm pretty sure of this, although I'll be happy to be proved wrong). Live Talk was on after the Lunchtime News as I remember it.
