As someone who has freeview, could someone explain to me what's going on regard the Flextech channels, did Telewest or ntl: own part of them at all?
Flextech wholly owns the channels Living, Living2, Bravo, Bravo2, Challenge, Ftn and Trouble. Flextech has changed ownership a few times before finally being re-purchased by Telewest Communications in 2000.
Telewest merged with NTL in 2006, and has since become Virgin Media Inc. Flextech Television LTD therefore became a wholly owned subsidary of Virgin Media Inc, and has been re-branded Virgin Media Television.

Flextech also half owns UKTV with BBC Worldwide.
Thanks for the info, so I take it there's a good chance that they could rebrand all of the stations.
I just hope Virgin Media doesn't do a Sky & taken FTN away from us... on second thoughts

Last I heard NTL (aka Virgin Media Inc) were in a dispute with $ky over the sat carriage deals, which
may
see all of Flextech's channels become free-to-air. The name "FTN" (Flextech Television Network) is now worthless since Flextech has become Virgin Media Television.
Now this is significant since NTL also own Sit-up Ltd (owners of bid tv and price-drop tv), and could easily replace those two channels on Freeview with some of Flextech's other channel offerings if they should choose to become FTA. It would certainly increase ratings dramatically, and FTN would then be equal to all other Flextech channels, so would be able to show practically any content from any Flextech channel. Perhaps it could become Virgin's flagship channel?
(sorry I always use old names - it will take me a while to adjust)

Same here, I still sometimes refer to ITV 1 as LWT at the weekend
Interesting, so we may end up with Living, Trouble & Bravo then?

That first name is another swearword in my vocabulary!

Possibly. It was revealed on Mediaguardian a while ago, and interestingly, the other day on Broadcastnow.co.uk

Sky squeezes Virgin in new carriage deal: Relations between the newly rebranded Virgin Media and BSkyB have reached an all-time low following the latest round of carriage negotiations.
So not getting on AT ALL really. In addition, BSkyB also purchased 17.9% in ITV plc of which, at first NTL were considering a merger with. Also from Broadcast:

Virgin Media takes fresh swipe at Ofcom and Sky: Virgin Media chairman Jim Mooney took a fresh swipe at UK regulators today claiming there are "structural flaws" in the system and pointed to the fact that its rival BSkyB was able "block" its attempt to buy ITV.
Looks like the new logo will be placed in the top left corner of the screen. We got a glimpse of it just after Most Haunted, which, strangely, was next weeks episode.
The DOGs have changed on screen today with LIVING and LIVING (+1) in the top left and LIVING2 in the top right.
Oddly the +1 channel hasn't incorporated the +1 element yet, and the Sky EPG hasn't changed yet to remove the "tv" part of the channel name. I'll try to get one of the idents at 10:30.
EDIT: Here we go. No "Ident" as such, just a Breakbumper, Trailer then a Now & Next - WindowsMedia File (0.6Mb)
