With regads to Krypton itself, meh, still can't fathom out the heartbeat monitors

Yes, it is a gimmick. It's intended to convey the pressure the contestant is under, but offers little because it only shows the spiked part of the trace and not the rate!

Last week, Krypton's opener (5/1/10) was watched by 3.2m (12.2% share), this week (12/1/10) down to 3.0m (11.8%).

I noticed an error on Iain Weaver's part in this week's Weaver's Week. He mistook the rules of the General Knowledge round...

Minus several for over-weighting the trivia quiz at the end – one point for a correct answer, not two, makes it impossible for a general knowledge whizz to come from miles behind.

It's definitely two points on tonight's evidence!

I read it the same way as you, but then I read it again and thought it could be read like this...

[IT SHOULD BE] one point for a correct answer, not two, [WHICH WOULD] make it impossible for a general knowledge whizz to come from miles behind [WHICH IS A GOOD THING AS THE KRYPTON FACTOR SHOULDN'T JUST BE ABOUT TESTING GENERAL KNOWLEDGE].

I think the reference to "over-weighting" is the clue that yes, he's advocating that it should be one point, rather than that it is one point.

OK, I understand where it's coming from now... but sometimes having that 'thrill of the chase' element makes for a really thrilling denoument where you never know what'll happen next. Something that's been lost in this 'age of the spoiler'!

Tuesday's (16th Feb) Krypton Factor rated just 2.4m, a 9.7% audience share. This despite being sandwiched between high-raters Emmerdale and The Brits.

I know it's a big week in Eastenders which may have dented ratings for KF a little, but the trend is obvious.

From a season-opening 3.2m on 5th January, viewers have been lost week-on-week, highlighting the folly of ditching the intelligence round.

Could recommissioning for a third series be contentious now?

In all honesty I do not think people will stop watching just because one round isn't there anymore.

It's saying that the nostalgia is wearing off and the show can be seen for what it actually is which isn't all that good. If the new Krypton Factor was completely new and it wasn't a revival then I think most of the comments would be quite the opposite. Much like Pip Schofield's The Cube, it was very much like marmite on the forums, people either loved it or hated it.

I have, the show is definitely missing something. The intelligence round brought some real variety to the programme (and I'm on about last year, forget about the old days).

Although I was annoyed when it was reported it had been dropped, I honestly don't really notice it's missing in the show itself. I do think though it would have been an idea to keep it for the semi-finals, replacing Observation, and then perhaps bring in the Response test for the final.

The ratings are in freefall which is worrying, maybe intelligent questions and geeky contestants is not want people want in this day and age of contestants that are 'wacky characters' in other game shows (think Deal or No Deal)

I would move the 3rd series to an early evening Sunday slot allowing a longer running time meaning time for an intelligence round.

The fact that the observation round clip is always a police investigation theme is a bit annoying.

The clip in the first semi final won't be! Wink

Re. the observation round using television clips, a wee bit unfair, possibly?

What if a contestant happens to be a huge fan of the programme the clip is lifted from, so is primed with some of details and more au fait with character names etc?

Would be fairer to produce new, specially-made clips for the round, as they used too. Cheap that they're not!

A better idea regarding the clips round would be to use really old obscure clips. Its cheap, the contestants are unlikely to be fans and we get to see some clips that would otherwise be locked away for ever.

Ive noticed that, although the first episode of the new series was a Corrie clip IIRC.
